BR: Question about Diaper Bags
So the Moms & Moms2B check-in got me wondering...is it really important to get a specifically-diaper bag or can you just use any large-enough bag to put diaper & related stuff in it? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I just never heard of "diaper bags" until this board and I always thought that any bag would just do?

Re: BR: Question about Diaper Bags
I wasn't going to buy one (and I didnt) because I heard the hospital I delivered at gave one out before you go home. I received another one as a shower gift.
You can really use any bag... most people like them bigger though because it actually becomes your purse as well - so you don't have to carry 2 bags!

Since I'm such a bag lady and like to change it up all the time, I never bought a diaper bag. However, I did pick up a really neat looking Coleman cooler bag that looks EXACTLY like a diaper bag (fits really nicely on the back of the stroller) at Wal-Mart for $13.97. Cool designs too and not your typical cooler bag either.
Seriously, all you need to carry are diapers and wipes. And maybe the odd bib and a change of clothes. I like to travel light, so I don't pack too much.
Like the pp's said I don't think it's necessary to have a specific diaper bag.
I do like that my diaper bag is water proof and has a seperate section for bottles, a change pad etc.

You can use any bag but diaper bags tend to have more pockets, which come in handy with all the stuff you might want to carry!
Here is what I typically carry in my big diaper bag... Diapers, wipes, icky bag with plastic bags for soiled clothes and diapes I have to take with me, hand sanitizer, diaper cream, nursing cover, pouch sling, burp cloth, change of clothes (long sleeve white onesie and a pair of baby legs), mittens, hat, pacifier, toys
Here is what I carry in my medium-sized diaper bag... Diapers, wipes, plastic bags, hand sanitizer, nursing cover, burp cloth
And here is what is in my wirstlit.... Diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer

I like having a specific diaper bag because there are a lot of pockets that may not be in an ordinary purse-type bag but you can probably find in, say, a backpack.
Malia has a great list of stuff that you may want to carry - it's nice to have all that stuff in separate pockets for easy access.
We have two diaper bags, a big one (not as big as a backpack though) and a smaller one that are used all the time. I like to travel light too but with a baby (and now a toddler with his drinks and snacks), it's not always possible.
