Just curious, is anyone else not eligible for this? I applied about 2 months ago and have received no documentation so I called today and after putting in my information, I was told I'm not eligible for it... There was no option to talk to an agent so has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know the income level cut off to not qualify?
Re: Child Tax Benefit...
Hopefully it's just a paperwork error! Maybe try calling back or looking on the website for an alternative phone number.
The only things I see listed for eligibility are:
- you must live with the child
- child must be under age 18
- you must be the person primarily responsible for the care and upbringing
- you must be a resident of Canada
- you or your spouse must be a citizen or permanent resident.
The universal day care credit is the only one that you get regardless of income and it's $100 a month. There is a cut off for the the child tax credit, but I'm not sure what it is.
Here's a link to a calculator though. You might be able to find more info from this page: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/bnfts/clcltr/menu-eng.html
If this is right then we for sure don't qualify...bummer.
That's about right. I think it's been bumped up a bit to the very low 40's and depends on how many children you have as well.
I may be filling it out wrong as well but I was just told that we'll get aprox $45/month.
If this is the case I'm still happy - that diapers/formual etc. every little bit helps! Unless they say below a $ amount they don't qualify?
Did I miss that?
I just checked and there is $500 in the UCCB sitting there... now how the heck to do I get that if I can't get through to an agent?
I hate online calculators...they never function properly. It's hard to program in all the variables.
Keep pressing the * key...it'll forward you to a person in their contact centre.
Thanks! I got through to an agent... no CTB but we are getting the UCCB!
This can't be true because my husband makes substantially more than this and we still qualify.
