Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen was punched in the face by an irate fan outside a South Bend restaurant early Sunday morning and has a swollen eye, a person briefed on the incident said.
That person said Clausen was "sucker-punched" by a fan as he left an establishment after having dinner with his parents.
The fan allegedly said something to Clausen and/or a female acquaintance.
The source said the injury is not expected to keep Clausen from playing this weekend against Stanford.

It didn't happen outside of a restaurant, it was a bar at 2:30am. The likely reason no charges were pressed was because he was probably tanked and ran his big mouth off at someone. He's had a history of getting in trouble in the past, especially with alcohol. Google Clausen and beer olympics.
I guess he really isn't a FIGHTIN Irish, haha. ND should recruit the kid who punched him to play QB, at least he can hit a target. Although I'm shocked that he was able to punch his eye, tough to miss that big mouth.
I heard he had is first and second string offensive linemen with him and they still couldn't protect him!
I did laugh when they called CJs a restaurant. Its a bar that serves food during the day.
There is definitely more to this story. But props to ND for spinning it fairly well.
This is essentially why I am wondering if his brothers were there. If they were there is no doubt in my mind that this is what happened.
