So, I realize I could just send you a FB message, but it's way more fun to be paged here, right?!

I was hoping you had some PDX tips for me!! Did you have any favorite places that i just HAVE to try? (Other than saint cupcake of course - although my sister is trying to shift my loyalty to Cupcake Jones).  Any cute clothing boutiques that aren't super expensive? Tell me evvvvvverything!

Re: *lisamph*

  • First of all, if Cupcake Jones' cake and St. Cupcakes' frosting had babies, the world would be a better place. CJ's frosting is really oily and coats your mouth (gag) but their cake is to die for. If I had to pick to go to one, it would still be SC. If you happen to get sick of cupcakes (as if) go to Papa Haydn's on NW 23rd. Fab desserts!

NW 23rd brings me to my next recommendation. Btw...have you ever been to NW23rd? I am sure you have but just checking. It is so fabulous: little boutiques, amazing food and nightlife. I love this little boutique there called Sloan Boutique. Besides their amazing clearance wall (!!), they have super cheap accessories but have great designers like Kensie (my favorite dress designer). Anywhere on NW 23rd is worth visiting.

If you guys are looking for a cheap, low-key night out but still an awesome atmosphere go to Bartini/Urban Fondue for happy hour.  Pros: hundreds of specialty martinis, amazing fondue, dirt cheap at happy hour. Cons: I feel sorry for you if you don't go right when happy hour starts, loud, busy. Oh, it is really, really small; Bartini is connected to Urban Fondue. It is more formal on the UF side but you can still order off their menu on the Bartini side.

I am sure you have heard of VooDoo Doughnuts. I still can't fathom anyone wanting to eat a maple bar with real bacon on it but whatev. Have fun waiting in line for an hour. =(

If you want an amazing breakfast (and mimosas!) go to Mother's Bistro. To-die-for food, chandeliers & damask, but tables and chairs that don't match. Super busy but so worth it. Here is their menu so you can drool.

Don't forget about Multnomah Falls, Chinese Gardens, and OMSI. You and Y would love OMSI, you nerds. =)

When are you guys going? We are going to be there for my little sister's wedding 12/11-12/21. Wanna come to the country-chic bridal shower? Wink

Holy long post! I am watching Biggest Loser and avoiding my 7-page paper due tomorrow that I haven't even started. Lame.

  • wow, thanks! You're the best!!

We don't get in until the 21st late at night...I hope your sister isn't too upset ;) !

So funny that you recommended Mother's bistro, i woke up with a facebook message from my sister telling me to watch the today show this morning because the chef from there was going to be on! And we've been to Poppa Hayden but we reaaallllly want to go back, because we made a bad ordering decision - we decided to go for a "sampler" of all the cakes, but we didnt realize it was not small cakes, but little truffles! They were okay, but we were so disappointed... we wanted cake!

i'm writing down all of your recs! I saw that OMSI has a 21+ night that ends before we get there... Y will be so sad, he HATES kids at science museums

    Good luck with your paper!!
