Just curious. What food does you family usually have for TG? Any family "specialties"?
Re: Share your TG menu
This year we're having
Turkey (of course)
Gravey
Stuffing
Corn
Mashed Potatoes
Candied Sweet Potatoes
Cranberry Sauce
Biscuits
Mulled Apple Cider
Pumpkin Pie
We usually have:
Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy on all of the previous items, green beans of some sort, cranberries, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, and apple pie. Pretty simple, but I like it that way
. The apple pie is the special part, because my mom makes it, and it is crazy good. My mom is a decent cook, but a FABULOUS baker!
We usually have:
Turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables of some sort, dinner rolls, cranberries, turnips (my mom makes these for herself since no one else likes them LOL), sweet potato pie w/pineapple, pumpkin pie, spiced apple cider, wine.
Turkey, Stuffing, Gravy, Green Bean Casserole, Candied Yams, Mashed Potatoes, Mac n Cheese, Rolls (white and corn bread), Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Cream Pie, Cherry Cheesecake. My sister makes the best mac n cheese from scratch, so we make her bring that to every holiday. I am in charge of all but the Green Bean Casserole
Pumpkin Pie, Mac n Cheese and Rolls. I really need to go home and start cooking!!!!
I forgot the cranberry sauce.
Turkey, potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips (?), pearled onions, cranberry sauce, some special bread SIL does, corn, greenbean casserole, apple and pumpkin pies, a cheesecake, I'll bet. stuffing, gravy... beer!
I'm used to Mom's fabulous sweet potato casserole! YUM! but will miss it this year.
This year, my sister and BIL are hosting, so I have no idea what there will be. But usually -
Turkey
Gravy
Ham with pineapple glaze
Cranberry Sauce
Stuffing
dinner rolls
green beans
mashed potatoes
My grandmother bakes pumpkin pies and apple pies (enough for us to take one home).
Before dinner we have veggies, chips, dip, cheese spreads, olives, summer sausage, etc.
I think this year, we might see some salsa sneak in, thanks to BIL! I hope he makes his awesome guac, too.
I'm going to a friend's house, and I'm a little nervous, not knowing what she normally has and all that. If we were hosting, we would fry a turkey, stuffing (2 kinds if my dad was coming), REAL mashed potatoes, corn casserole, gravy, cranberry something, relish tray, jello salad, never-fail rolls, and desserts of all kinds.
All I know about tomorrow is I'm bringing 1 bottle of jack, 3 12 packs of pop, a relish tray, corn casserole, and peppermint cheesecake.
Turkey
Gravy
Chicken Cornbread Dressing
Sweet Potato Souffle
Mashed potatoes
Cranberry Apple Bake
Green Fluffy Stuff
Creamed Onions (MIL)
Vegetable (MIL)
Rolls
Pumpkin Pie (MIL)
Key Lime Pie (MIL)
Snickerdoodles with Pumpkin Dip
Us too!
After we eat Black Angus' version of Thanksgiving, we are going to my mom's house where there will be our usual Thanksgiving faire:
Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, chicken flavored rice-a-roni, mixed veggies (usually corn and green beans), stuffing. King's hawaiian rolls, croissants, apple and pumpkin pies, chocolate cake.
Beer, rum, and maybe some tequila
We are having:
2 turkeys, 1 fried, 1 baked
Ham
Brisket
2 Stuffings, 1 regular, 1 sausage and chestnut stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Mased Sweet Potatoes
cornbread
candied yams
cran-apple sauce
Green Bean Casserole
2 pumpkin pies
Apple Pie
pumpkin bread
Some other stuff I am sure...cant remember...feeding 19 people!
Well, this is my very first Thanksgiving. Last year we went to a restaurant for their Thanksgiving buffet and it wasn't great, so I won't count that one.
So this is my first one ever, and the first one I cook by myself. Thank goodness DH is the only guest! (in case I screw up)
I'm making:
Turkey
Gravy
Dressing
Mashed potatoes
Roasted sweet potatoes
Green beans
Apple pie
White chocolate fudge
Dinner rolls
Yup, I'm feeling ambitious!!
