for those who helped jewelyn - a question - help needed

i saw that our poor ketamarie's story has already been posted on your board. you ladies were such a show of strength and support, and we're trying to rally on our board as well. i know that someone on here organized donations for jewelyn's family. we're trying to do the same, and trying to see what is the best route. i thought maybe whoever spearheaded this could contact me and let me know what you found was best, especially since we are concerned about taxes. is setting up a p.o. box for donations the best choice? for gift cards and such? or would a paypal acct be better? i will do more research, but thought i could learn from you ladies. please feel free to pm me, or respond on here and i'll pm you my email. thank you for your help and support.

  • I set up the paypal account. I didn't have to use my SS# or anything. What makes this difficult is that you have to link the paypal account to a regular bank account in order to withdraw the money. I didn't want this money to ever go into my personal accounts so we had to open a memorial fund bank account and then link pp to it. There are drawbacks to the pp system, so my suggestion is to open a memorial fund account through a bank or credit union, along with a P.O. box for other, non-monetary, donations. GL and let me know if you have other questions about this.
