So my friend's car was stolen this past weekend. She was out at a bar, met a guy, took him home. Woke up with no keys, no phone, and no car. Luckily for her, one of her friends had taken a picture of him at the bar the night before. We plastered his picture all over the place (local stuff, facebook, local news, etc.)
Today, his parole officer (ironic, right?) saw his picture on the news. They arrested him at his work. He still had her phone on him and was driving her car.
Wohoo!
ETA: DH's car was stolen many many years ago and he has been particularly grumpy these past couple days. I think it brought back all the bad memories. Too bad for him, his was never found. All they found was the plates. He's hasn't looked at a Buick the same way since.

Re: Wow - amazing story about my friend.
A big fat ditto to this!!!
Wow, I'm glad your friend is okay. If I were her, I'd change the locks on her doors, etc. just to be safe.
The bumper is all chewed up and he took her iPod and her son's nintendo DS out of the car, so they didn't get those back. But luckily those are all minor things.
I think she's already changed her locks. But I will remind her.
2010 Highlights
9/26 Adirondack Marathon 5:11:37 (major knee pain, but hey, I finished!)
2011 Races and Results
5/29 Buffalo Marathon (5:25 - not pretty, just trying not to get heatstroke!)
9/25 Adirondack Marathon (take 2!)
One of these days I'll have a good marathon!
Great about the car, etc.
But I really, really hope your friend learned a very dangerous lesson. Quite honestly, she's lucky that this guy only stole her car.
I have no idea, but I certainly hope so. She's not one to do something like that, let alone while her son is home. Her family does live right down the street, so I'm guessing he was staying with her parents that night.
And to PP, yeah, I hope she never does that again! That's why we were so shocked. It's not her normal MO.
