What is your favorite?

Ok, ladies!  What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish, and why?

Mine is Mock Cherry Pie.  Its an old-school recipe for pie that has cranberries and raisins in it.  No one I know if (in Ca, at least) has ever heard of it.  Its stinking delicious!  It's a sentimental favorite for me.  I'm making the pie filling right now and it reminds me of my Nana.

Re: What is your favorite?

  • hmmm...my favorite dish is probably the pies. It's really hard to choose. This year, I'm going to stick with the pumpkin pie. DH and I made it together last night and it was our 1st time. It looks ok and tastes great so I'm proud. It will be a nice family tradition for he and I to have now.
  • Hmmm thats a hard one...... I would say the turkey. We have it different ways every year. So far we have had smoked, fried, baked and this year a trash can turkey!
  • Cranberry sauce and fried chicken!  I love cranberry sauce because you can put it on ANYTHING or eat it alone.  I love putting it on sandwiches the day after.  Fried chicken because I rarely get it (my grandma makes it) but since I will be seeing her this weekend I'm getting some!  Yay!

  • I second the cranberry sauce!  That and really good dressing that only my mom and my dear sweet Josephine (ex) can make.  Both of them have passed away so I can't get it and it makes me sad.  Man I miss that stuff.
  • Haha, I like it all!  Probably because it's the only time of year I really eat this kind of food.  If I had to pick, it would be stuffing and pecan pie for dessert.

  • Mmm....is it wrong if I say gravy?   I like it so much I put it on my entire plate!  I used to be of the non-touching of foods school but now I am a mixer.

That or stuffing.  Yum.  FIL makes it in the crock pot and it gets all these delicious crunchy bits.  SO good!
