Since many of you are traveling, I thought I would recap the show on Dr Oz yesterday re: hotel cleanliness (can you tell I am trying to take it was?!). I seriously think I threw up in my mouth watching it. lol They tested a budget hotel, a 5*, and a relatives guest room. Both came back with fecal matter, E Coli (and one had vaginal something or other) on the freakin remote control. EEEEwwwww! They checked the floors, beds, toliet, remotes, telephone and the guest cups they leave in the room.
FYI- Apaprently the guest cups NEVER leave the room to be washed. The cleaners just wipe them a towel and usually the same towel they cleaned the toilet with. OMG-never using again!
So here is what the Germ guy suggested:
1) NEVER EVER use the guest room mugs or glasses.
2) use flip flops to walk on the floors
3) Cover the remotes with a plastic bag if you are going to use it. I had always wiped mine with Lysol, but he never mentioned that.
4) Take off the cover bedspread as it never gets washed.
5) He rec'd taking your own sheet to lay on top of the other sheets and pillowcases that were hypoallergenic.
I was really surprised he didnt mention Lysol wipes or sprays which I spray everything with (doorknobs, remotes, etc). If you have any other suggestions please post, as I would love to try.

Re: Did you watch Dr Oz yesterday re: hotel cleanliness??
It's so gross. MH essentially LIVES in a hotel and I try not to think about this stuff.
Although, I did date a guy years ago that would make me bring our own sheets when we stayed in a hotel, along with cleaner and cleaned the bathroom when we got there. Seeing shows like this, I totally understand why, but seriously who wants to clean an entire room when you get there. Especially if you're on vacation (time to relax, not clean!) or only there for one night....there are loads of times where we get into the room at 10 pm only to be gone by 7 am, and I am NOT cleaning the entire room at 10 pm!
