Ruby, our boxer, gets red ears and a red belly and all itchy once in a while. An antihistamine from our vet works pretty well but kind of makes her sleepy.
We have hardwood floors downstairs and carpet up in our bedroom and a polyester comforter on the bed. She's usually fine, but then rolls around on the carpet upstairs and seems to turn red almost immediately and get all itchy. Then it lasts for a while. We thought maybe it was the carpet, but then realized that she likes to rub herself along the perimeter of our bed/comforter first and then rolls around on the floor, so maybe it's the polyester comforter and that's why she's rubbing on the carpet? Is that possible? It's the only thing we can come up with after trying various foods.
Re: Think it's possible for a dog to be allergic to polyester?
She could certainly be sensitive to it!
Could it be the laundry detergent or fabric softener?
