Some days I wonder...

I wonder if I will "make" it as a teacher. My current class is a handful and I have one student who challenges my sanity moment by moment. To sit down with my kids individually they are sweet kids and I love them so much. When they are together they are another story. They are challenging at best. But I go home every night with nothing left and I wonder how I will manage once we have kids.

Just some musings for the end of the day that was crazy with student-led conferences and all that entails.

Re: Some days I wonder...

  • Holy crap I just saw your tickers and I totally thought you were pregnant.

Having someone else's kids (especially many of them) is a lot different than having your own. I'm sure you will be a wonderful mother. I'm sure you're a wonderful teacher :)

  • haha Lisah. Not preg (just excited) and it would be very hard to be prego with two babies due a month apart. : )

    Thanks for the encouragement.

  • You'll be great as a mom. Chances are you'll only have a a few kids of your own, not 20 all of the same age. Stick out tongue

I don't teach, but I was a camp counsellor for about 5 years and I hear you on the challenging groups. There were definitely times where I didn't know how I was going to make it through the day nevermind the whole summer... I think sometimes in life you just keep plowing through.

On a plus note, there's what - 3 more weeks until Christmas break and you get some time off? If nothing else a good ol fashioned countdown should provide some light at the end of the tunnel from the craziness!

  • Don't worry - I feel the exact same way on a very regular basis!  I just started an LTO about a month ago in a grade seven class, and I really don't know how teachers with kids of their own manage it.

My DH does a good job of keeping me sane, reminding me that once you teach for a few years it gets easier.  Like a previous poster said, it's a lot different to raise your own and only have a few (as opposed to a group of 20 - unless that is what you want :P)
