Christmas Breakfast...

This is our first Christmas in our new home and instead of stepping on any toes and having dinner at our house we are going to have an informal Christmas breakfast....Any ideas/recipes that are easy?

Re: Christmas Breakfast...

  • I love egg bake!  You can do it with either sausage or bacon, or neither.  But it is easy bc you just make it right in a large pan and then you don't have to make up eggs for people.  Especially bc everyone has their own favorite way to have their eggs.  If you are interested, I will post the recipe.

Another easy thing is a huge bowl of cut up fruit.  You can buy the big frozen package at Sams or BJs that has strawberries, grapes, mango, peaches, and pineapple combo and then just put it in the refrigerator the day before to thaw.

Muffins would be good as the bread.  When I had thanksgiving last year I made cornbread muffins the night before and they were still fresh the next day.  So you could do that (blueberry or some type) and it is one less thing to do that day.

  • Quiche! It's easy to make and you can make it a million different ways! :)
  • Thanks ladies! JNK whats the recipe?
  • I made Ina Garten's sticky buns last year, they were soooo good.

They're easy because you make them with puff pastry dough, and can make them the night before.  Just pop them in the oven on Christmas morning!

  • A french toast casserole is very yummy and can be done in advance.

  • Mimosas!!  They're our Christmas morning tradition!  :)   You can also make them with cranberry juice instead of orange.

  • I'm super boring. So if you did the old bacon, pancakes, home fries, eggs, biscuits. I would be in heaven.

We do this too! I love this egg/cheese/bacon quiche we do every Christmas. Then we always have this Lemon Poppy Seed Bread too.

  • This drink was really good.  My MIL made it on Thanksgiving.

I lived with my best friend's family in high school and she did this too.  We would have eggs, hash browns, French toast, muffins, bacon/sausage.  I love the idea

  • we did a Christmas Eve breakfast a couple of years ago and it was a hit.

The "main dish" was an egg casserole. We also served bagels, cinnamon buns, home made muffins and all the fixings, along with fruit salad and lots of morning beverages. (there might have been some sweets in there too). OH! and breakfast potatoes, i forgot that part.

We did it for the same reason, of not wanting to step on toes, but to make it easier to see our entire family over the holidays.

  • My mom always does a Raspberry Kuchen for part of our Christmas breakfast. I look forward to it every year! I am not sure of the recipe, but I am sure it is online somewhere.
