Recommend your digital camera please

Hello, I?m looking to buy a new digital camera and in need of recommendations. My criteria is; Under or around $400 Takes a quick photo (my current camera seems to take 3 seconds to take the photo which I hate) Somewhat small or slender Durable Any suggestions would be very much appricated!

Re: Recommend your digital camera please

  • We love our Nikon Coolpix. I keep it my purse nearly everyday. Even though it's obviously not an SLR it has a pretty short delay, much shorter than my other point and shoot (a Canon A570). It also has a rechargable battery instead of using AAs, so you don't have to spent a fortune on batteries. I would highly recommend.

  • I love my Canon digital elph! The DIGIC 3 processor is super fast, no delay (unlike our older Canon camera that had a bit of a delay). Our latest Canon is now 2.5 yrs old and still awesome... so there is probably a DIGIC 4 or 5 processor by now!

this looks like a good one:

  • I love the Canon PowerShot ones....whatever the best one availability for your budget is what I'd go with.

We do have a DSLR too as my DH shoots professionally but I call the Powershot one my "purse camera" and I'm overall happy with it.

  • I have the one in the link above and love it! It's no DSLR or anything, but it works great and with the lithium battery we don't have to keep buying AAs or anything.?

haha I didn't even realize digital cameras still come with AAs...I can't remember the last camera I had that needed them....but as the other ladies said, definitely avoid those.

  • I like this post - I also need a new point and shoot, will have to check out some of the ones above! Thanks ladies!
  • I have the nikkon coolpix and I love it. Takes some great pictures, lightweight, easy to keep in my purse, and has some great settings (which I'm only just starting to play with)

I found that the coolpix and the sony cybershot were comarable but went with the nikkon because it takes the SD memory cards which I find to be much cheaper to buy, plus my previous camera had SD cards so I already had one.
