Welcome Back

After 5 days off I so did not want to come back to work today.  I'm tired and cranky and my week is jam-packed.

I ate alot this weekend and I'm totally bloated.  I feel gross.

Anyone have any stories?  How many people braved the crowds for Black Friday? Any good deals?

Re: Welcome Back

  • welcome back....I'm exhausted and so not ready for a 5 day work week!

It was a busy few days with going out Thanksgiving Eve to an all day eating fest on Thanksgiving and then saturday I got my hair color done early, then spent the day at the hospital with my sister and niece and then went out for out Bachelor/ette party which was so much fun!!!

The girls went to Max Brenners and I have to say I am SOOO in love with this place....it was heaven for me :)

  • I think this was the first long weekend that didnt' feel too short in a loooong time.

Thanksgiving went off without a hitch and although we're still cleaning up, I was really happy to host and not have to drive all over creation.

We went to a great wedding of two close friends and danced a bunch so that was a great Saturday.

But the best was doing NOTHING on Friday and Sunday. A-mazing.

I'm jealous cause H is off today, too. ::sigh::

  • Thanksgiving day was the usual and I definately enjoyed it.

Friday we got up and hit the stores at 4 AM. I felt like a carnival attraction, because at nine months pregnant I was stared at and talk to by more strangers than ever.

Friday evening close friends from NY with their 1 yr old and 3 yr old visited which was fun. I especially enjoyed watching H play with them.

Saturday we decorated our Christmas tree with the help of one of my old students who we adore.

Sunday we had an old friend over for lunch and then another friend visiting from AZ stopped by.

I'm still pregnant... so nothing top of the line eventful for us. I'm feeling huge and uncomfortable, but so happy and excited for what is to come. :)

  • The weekend did feel nice and long, and I was happy to have some extra days off, but now, being back at work, I feel exhausted! Waiting for this tea to kick in...

No Black Friday shopping for me... no, thanks!

One of my fave things about working in the city is being able to Christmas shop during my lunch breaks. I'm starting today!

  • We had Thanksgiving day off only, and we were slammed all weekend.  Stone Harbor has a huge holiday weekend and it is like summer again down here.  My lovely employees decided to text me on Thanksgiving that they couldn't work the weekend, so in all my pregnant glory, I got stuck waitressing for 10 hours on Friday and cooking all day Saturday.  I swear I'm going to walk this baby right out of me.

On Saturday, there was a 1 mile dog walk to benefit the Cape May Animal Alliance and I walked with my mom and 2 pups.  Booger won 3rd place out of about 100 dogs for best dressed.  I think they just felt bad because he is a pug and really shouldn't have to walk a mile on a windy beach.  We waddled the whole way.  My mom though it was commical.  Saturday night there was a big parade in town and if there was ever a night to start a fire in Cape May County, that would have been it.  Every single fire truck is in the parade.  It was insane.

As for shopping, H and I actually begged the lady at the local Sears on Wednesday night to just take our credit card info and order us a washer/dryer set that went on sale Friday 4am.  Her boss said no prob, so we didn't have to get up for that.  We also found a leather glider for the nursery, and 2 leather recliners for way cheap Thanksgiving morning.  The store we got them at opened at 7am and we didn't feel like getting up early on one of our only days off, so we bribed the workers there with coffee and showed up around 9am with our furniture ready to go.

  • we had an amazing weekend!  it was so relaxing.  we did a little car shopping on black friday but did not go to any chaotic stores!

last night we headed back to NYC.  i am sad the weekend is over, but there is a lot to look forward to in December!

  • We had a 12 hour drive to SC on Tuesday which was an extra three hours due to traffic.  We took Oscar and he did really well in the car for the whole time.  We took him on little walks during, but for the most part he has cooped up in the car.

My mom made an AMAZING Thanksgiving dinner.  It was wonderful and I stuffed my self accordingly.

I did a little shopping on Friday to get containers for some of the extra stuff I'm putting in the Christmas baskets.  I got it all super cheap too.

Yesterday I made baked potato soup from scratch for the first time ever and it turned out sooooo good.  I'm very proud of myself.  I didn't even use a recipe.  I looked at a bunch online and then just winged it.

I'm jealous you can do that! I am totally a recipe person and it's sad.
