Awesome! You'll love it! Especially for all that food photography! Did you get the kit lens (18-55mm) with it also?
After you start playing with it more and branching out...I'd suggest the 50mm/f1.8 lens. Price is pretty great, and it will allow you to really play with aperture to get some awesome shots.
Let me know if you ever have any questions on using it. I have a Nikon D90, so I can help you navigate around the menu and various settings if you ever have any trouble!

I did get the kit lens with it as well so I have 2 lenses to play with right away. I can't wait to start experimenting. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions but I bought the Nikon does DH's cousin is a professional photographer and swears by Nikon and she told me what to buy and that way she can help me figure it out too but I'm sure I'll be lost at first, considering the best of I've had is a Kodak P&S for the past 4 years. My mom used to have a Nikon SLR before they were digital that I used to know how to use, so I'm hoping I actually remember something and it applies.
Mamie -- keep working on W for the flat screen. You NEED one!
