One heck of a week...

I feel like  I have been so out of the loop.  I have been lurking on my phone all weeks; however, I am not able to post from my phone...silly phone.  Wonder if there is an app for that?? ;)

Some of you may remember me mentioning on here that my dad was undergoing chemo again because his cancer has come back and spread to his spine and groin (the lymph node there)...last I had heard (prior to Thanksgiving) his blood work came back great...which was wonderful news...my mom told all of us on Friday, however, that his CAT scan showed that the chemo did not touch the spots on his spine and groin...instead the spots have grown.  His oncologist wants him  to do another 4 weeks of chemo to see if a longer duration of the chemo will have some affect on the spots...it has been an emotional weekend.  On top of that, Sophie has been sick since Wednesday...we were at the ER  last night because she was screaming inconsolably from 10:15 until 12:30...I  thought it was her ears or something else that was hurting her...we found out today that she just has a case of the Roseola virus, which is common in kiddos her age...

If you could please send my family some of your thoughts and prayers, I would truly appreciate it.

  • Good news is that Sophie is starting to come out of it!  She slept an entire 12  hours last night and woke up with a noticeably faded  rash...Steve and I  also noticed a little white bump on her gum...I'm wondering now if she is cutting her left, bottom canine tooth...we shall see.  Seems strange  that she would cut that tooth before her front bottom/top teeth...poor baby.  It would be just her luck to be cutting a tooth and have a virus at the same time...my heart breaks.

Everything with my dad is so surreal.  I seriously was not overly worried everything this time around with his chemo treatment.  I figured he kicked it before, so this will wipe it out instantly.  I was in such a state of shock when I was told that his CAT scan showed growth...it makes me sick thinking of what is going through my dad's mind...the emotions he has been feeling.  We have never had the best relationship, and I have not always liked my dad...but it doesn't make things any easier...I may not always like him, but I do love him...no one deserves to go through the  ugliness of cancer and what goes with it...thank you, again, for your thoughts and prayers...it means so much.

  • Sending lots of prayers your way honey!
