West Shore YMCA

Does anyone work out regularly at the West Shore YMCA in Camp Hill?  I'm considering joining so that I can do some swimming during my pregnancy.  I went in and took a tour of the facility and they gave me a free pass to give it a try.  I'm just wondering - how difficult is it to get a lane to swim laps there??  I was looking over the pool schedule and it seems like there is always a lot of classes and swim team practices going on at the two pools.  I know that there are always a few lanes open for swimming laps, I'm just wondering if that's something you usually have to wait for, or can you usually just walk in and start swimming?  I'm just trying to avoid that uncomfortable feeling of walking into a place I'm unfamiliar with and having to stand around waiting for the opportunity to swim.  Thanks for any advice or personal experiences you can share!

Re: West Shore YMCA

  • No idea about the Y but LA Fitness has a pool as well and they have a few classes here and there but it's never packed.
  • I think it really depends on what time of day you like to go.  Dh used to swim for awhile, but he was there first thing in the morning and never had a problem.  I think late afternoon/evening is a bit more crowded though.
