Buying appliances?

Where have you had a good experience buying appliances?  We're not sure yet whether we want to replace them all at once or one at a time yet and aren't really sure who is good to work with while still being cheap :)  I'll take all suggestions!!!  Thanks :)

Re: Buying appliances?

  • We got our washer and dryer from te Sears Outlet on Cleveland Ave (in Columbus).  They work pretty hard at upselling once you're there (and because of the neon sign over my head that screams HEATHEN our salesperson tried to tell us about how great it is to be a Jehovah's Witness), but the products themselves are well priced and delivery was fine (not outstanding, not awful, just fine).  We got a really good deal, and we've had no problems with the washer and dryer in over a year.  HTH!

  • We tore out our kitchen in our Bexley house and renovated it, so we had to buy all new appliances for that in May.  And then we moved and bought a new dishwasher and 2 new ovens for our new kitchen in October....so we've shopped around a lot for appliances!   We like the idea of Sear's Outlet, but were unable to find what we needed when we went (and we kept going back and calling for months, they just never seemed to have what we wanted).  If you can find what you're looking for, the prices are great and you get the warranty through Sears, which is good.  We have had a lot of luck at HHGregg (for the Bexley kitchen) and their Fine Lines store at Easton (for this kitchen).  You can haggle the price at HHGregg, so don't be shy about saying something's too much for you.  Our salesguy gave us a "builder's" discount, so we saved like $1000.
  • We just bought all new appliances (fridge, range, microwave, dishwasher) last weekend at Home Depot in Canal. Amy was the one who helped us and she was great. Right now, they are doing 10% off all appliances and no payments/no interest for 12 months on purchases over $299.

We've been all over looking at appliances and this was the one that was helpful but not overbearing and had more stock on the floor.
  • For my old house I bought a fridge (Lowes) and a stove/oven (Sears).

New house: fridge and dishwasher (Sears).

I've been happy with both stores, but I probably had a better experience at Sears, as far as sales people.  For my new house appliances, the sales guy told me when they were having what sales and what Sears CC promotions.  He showed me the whole calendar.  since I had a month  or more before I actually needed them, I could figure out what would be the cheapest.  Plus, they were much more knowledgeable and spent all kinds of time asking me questions about what I wanted/needed and answering any questions I had.

I've also visited Appliance mart (? I think thats what its called) and I wasn't all that impressed.  If I had known a Sears outlet existed, I might have tried there.

  • oh, I also bought a washer and dryer at sears.
  • Just to give you a bit of variety, I'll reccomend the place we bought our fridge from, it was almost 2 years ago and we haven't has any problems yet.  We got it from Appliance Mart on Main Street across from Value City Furniture.  They have really good price and a good selection as well.  I know they have another location, but I am not sure exactly where it is located.  HTH
  • We replaced our fridge, oven and dishwasher with stainless steel from ApplianceSmart on Main in Reynoldsburg about a year ago.  We shopped quite a bit and felt really good about our purchase.

  • We bought all new for both houses that we built. First at HHGregg, and then with Sears. Both were just fine and we price shop the heck out of everywhere when we do purchase new, so either is great. We used Sears this time to get 1 yr no payments no interest and free delivery with a rebate.

But I also wanted to mention that recently a new appliance smart outlet went in next to Circuit City off of Sawmill. I'd definitely check there!

  • We got a new fridge, dishwasher, range, and mircohood at Best Buy.

They were having a deal, a full stainless look kitchen for $1500 or something like that.  No interest for 18 months.  We changed a few things (bigger fridge, electric range instead of gas) and with tax and everything, out the door our bill was less than $2100.00.

We checked around different stores, and at the time, this was our best bet.  HH Gregg and Best Buy both run package deals all the time, and offer discounts the more you buy.

    Good Luck!
  • We bought everything from HHGregg. The guy who we worked with was awesome and since we bought everything from there, he was able to give us some awesome deals and even extended all of our warranty's from 3 to 5 years.
  • We bought a new washer and dryer from the same ApplianceSmart that two others already mentioned. I can't speak to their service, since they left us alone and let us look around ourselves (which I really prefer, actually). But the prices were great. The models we bought were pretty popular, so for like at least a year afterwards, I would check every time I was in Best Buy, Lowe's, HD, etc., and I never saw them priced lower than what we paid.

We got an upright freezer for Christmas from Circuit City (I think that's where it came from...the store on 256 in Reynoldsburg/Pickerington) and it was the lowest price on that model we found. Those people were a bit more overbearing, but they were nice enough.
