Hello - and please help!

First off, let me say hello to you all.  I hope you each had a great Thanksgiving Holiday!

Now for my question, and please forgive me if this has been discussed or may seem like a dumb question.  But, now that I FINALLY got back my certified copies of our marriage license, can anyone please help me out with where I need to go to change my name?  I've tried finding information online, but not having much luck.  I know it needs to be changed on SS card and driver's license, but which has to be done first?  Also, has anyone used the Miss to Mrs. site?  If you have, could you give me some feedback on your experience?

Thank you so much for your input.  I'm excited about being able to change my last name, now if I could just figure out what to do.......

 =) ~ Katrina

Re: Hello - and please help!

  • Congrats and welcome!!

You can do either first, but it makes it sooooooo much easier to get the driver license changed if you do the ss card first.

Look for the closest ss office here:

    https://secure.ssa.gov/apps6z/FOLO/fo001.jsp

The nearest DL office to you is on Pat Booker:

  • Yep, do your SS first and then you DL. Once that's done move on to all forms of insurance (I got a HUGE discount on my car insurance when I got married), bank info, work related items, bills, emails, etc. SS and DL are important. Just be sure to take your marriage license with you everywhere.
