BR PSA: Uddercovers for $9

Someone on the 3rd tri board posted about this so I tried it and it worked.  They're regularly $32 but if you use the code "planning" it's free and you just pay $8.95 shipping.  Pretty sweet deal!

  • They are ugly. Pay a little more and get a nice one! Ebay or Etsy are good places to get inexpensive but nice covers with a cool print.

  • The purple and white damask one is nice, so I got that one.  Yeah, the other prints aren't great and the selection isn't great.  But for $9 shipped, I just went with it.  I actually already have a black & white damask one but I can't resist a deal!  (Maybe I'll give one away as a gift.)

I checked etsy but didn't find any for near $9 shipped.  I wish I could sew so I could just make one myself!

  • I think these styles are cuter than the ones they had before.  I went ahead and ordered the black and white Porter style.  I've heard they aren't the highest quality, but for $9, at least I'm guaranteed to have one on hand!

  • The Porter was my second choice.  But B liked the purple one.  I agree - you can't beat $9!  Glad my finds could help someone out!  Yes

Yes, please keep the suggestions coming!  Saves me from doing my own research... ;)

  • Haha...are you considering cord blood storage?  I'm researching that right now - my OB did it and recommended it b/c 3 of her patients have already used theirs.

  • I don't think so, but I would like to donate it if possible.  I only started discussing the delivery and hospital choice with my OB this week, so I'll ask her about our cord blood options at our next visit -- the GD testing one!

  • Oooh...good luck with the glucose test.  That stuff wasn't so bad.  Just made me feel a little yuck for a bit.

If you change your mind about banking or want more info, let me know.  I wasn't going to do it but she mentioned it at my appointment yesterday so I did more research last night and today.  B & I decided that we should do it since we can afford to.  It's kind of like an insurance policy.  Never know if you'll need it but it'll be good to have if you do.  (The fact that I get a $750 discount for being a healthcare professional helps, though.)

  • Thanks, I will!  It would be great to have in case, but I don't think the odds justify the cost for our family.  I wish we got the healthcare discount... that's huge!

Our main healthcare investment will be our insurance premiums.  Even though there are affordable children's plans, they have so many limitations for worst-case-scenarios, and if you have assets, I don't think you can risk going that route.  So that means we are stuck paying through the nose for baby to join our plans.  OUCH.  We could so use some healthcare reform right about now!!!!

  • No kidding.  It kinda makes me want to vomit that those of us who have health insurance could go bankrupt/lose everything if something catastrophic were to happen, yet low income people with Medicaid end up paying nothing.  I see it so much since I work in a county hospital where most of our patients don't have private insurance.  They do everything to save these babies and the parents probably pay nothing.  Especially since they have no assets that could be liquidated.

  • Yeah, something needs to be done to help the middle-class because we're too "rich" for most current healthcare support programs and way too poor to just keep dishing out all this money for basic coverage. And it's really stressful feeling so vulnerable to financial devastation in the case of a medical catastrophe. .....sigh........

  • OK, those are cute. I thought it was the all blue and all pink ones again that they did last time. Those printed ones are different and a very good deal! Way to go, ladies!
