ROC girls-gym ?

Hey ladies! I need some gym recs please! I know I asked this last year, but ended up staying at my current gym...but the price is getting hiked again and now I'm not going as frequently as I was before having DD so it's not worth the money to me anymore. I need some ideas. Does anyone belong to the YMCA? I started exploring online but just don't know where to go. I really like taking classes so that would be a must-have for me wherever I go.

Re: ROC girls-gym ?

  • I belong to the YMCA in ROC. I love it.  Most of the classes are included in your membership which is really nice to not have to pay extra.  Also if you join one of the suburbian Y's you can go to any of the other Y's in other Suburbs if a class is offered at a time that is better for you. Also they do have childcare options for you DD if you need it while you are working out at certain times.
  • I loved the Y but the price was really high.  Jan 1 they do a promotion where there is no joining fee, but the price for one member (I believe) was about 80 or so a month.  I know there is a family membership which is not too bad, and they offer child care, but for one person I found the price to be too much.
  • Several of my coworkers love the Y, they have childcare, the pool, etc.

Also I noticed that the RAC is having a special for 3 months for some ridiculously low price- $49?

  • Do you guys know if swim lessons are included with the Y's fee?
  • The family membership for the Y is 89.  A single is 44 I believe.  And the childrens swim classes are not included.  However, the prices are pretty reasonable.
