Photo Editing Help

I know some of you are really good with the photo editing, so I'm hoping you can help me out.

I was assigned my SIL for Christmas gift exchange this year, and I'm getting her a collage of  professional pictures of her son, daughters, my brother (her husband), from the wedding.  It turns out that my photog took 98% landscape oriented shots, and I have one portrait slot left to fill in the photo frame.  I am going to "cheat" and use one of my uncle's pictures of her daughters.

The problem is that there is a shadow across my elder niece's face.  I want to convert the picture to B&W, but the shadow makes that really difficult.  Does anyone know how to brighten specific areas of photos?

  • i almost started working on it and i dont want to work on the file from a blog picture, the blog tears up the quality of the photo and when u go to print it, it will look bad compared to your other photos.

Can you send me the file to my email? fotophreak4c  @ aol

  • I'm glad Foto responded - I would offer to help, but it'll be tonight before I'm able to look at it - I only have Photoshop at home.

  • Thanks!!

I sent it to you just now.

  • k sent to your email. like i said in the email, if u have a windows comp it is prob gonna look darker than it does on my mac. The colors between the two comps are crazy different so what looks good on my comp might not look right at all on yours. Let me know if it is still too dark for you. On my side, you can barely see any shadow and I lightened the specific area, but also lightened the picture as a whole and put more contrast into it.
