When people give you homemade cookies, chocolate, cakes, etc for Christmas, do you eat them all? How do you decide which ones ot eat and which to toss (or regift?)
I remember a poll way back re: potlucks and people not wanting to eat homemade sutff when you're not really sure who made it.
Sooooo.....

Re: Poll: Homemade treats
It really depends on who made it. Family...sure, I'll eat it. But I'm an elementary school teacher, and students/parents bring me things all the time. I will eat treats from some families. Families whose children are always dressed properly, smell good (you may laugh, but this doesn't always happen!), and usually parents who are active in our school. For example, I'll eat cookies made by PTA members, as I know them and trust them. But cookies from a kid who often looks sloppy, and I don't know the parents very well, I generally won't eat it.
I also get a lot of boxes of dollar store candy at the holidays. I don't usually eat all of these either...partly because some of them look like they've been sitting on a shelf for about 2 years, and partly because I get so many of them I couldn't possible eat everything! If they look clean and not dusty or crushed, I'll either eat them or re-gift them.
This is totally understandable. I don't think anyone would eat something that tasted gross... unless the person making it was watching you eat it!
I will eat/try everything that people give me, mostly because I don't generally get homemade treats from people that I suspect drop cigarette ash into their cookie dough or whatever lol.
That said, there are a few things that I don't eat or even try. For example, Christmas cake, which is a very popular Aussie holiday dessert that's basically fruitcake. (I once asked Ben what the difference was, and he said that Christmas cake has alcohol in it...which may well be the case, but it's the same brick of nasty candied fruit shiznit to me.) My MIL makes us one every year, and every year I choke down a piece to make her happy, then store that sucker out of sight until I can sneak it into the trash around New Years.
Erm... I'm a sweets addict. I voted a)
Also, I adore fruitcake. I think it gets a bad rap!

LOL kidding. I actually don't think it's anywhere near as horrifying as it's made out to be. But I still don't like it...I'll eat it if forced to out of politeness, but I'd much rather have something else.
LOVE the cake part...HATE the fruit! My mom made it years ago when I was a child and a loved the batter...until she added that nasty, rubbery fruit. I can see how people like it though. If I get one, I'll send it your way!
