Re: recipe

  • I did at one time, I'll see if I can find it!  It's not EXACTLY like theirs, but a really close imitation!

  • Ok, I copied this from an email in my file, so it has a little backstory attached:

Since the hurricane, The Times Picayune (newspaper) has been getting requests for many recipes people lost when their homes were destroyed.  And they've also gotten requests for a recipe nobody had, but everyone wanted.  Cane's Sauce.  Someone who used to work at Guthrie's (spelling?) Restaurant in Alabama has been reading about  the massive requests for the sauce, so they wrote in to the paper.  Guthrie's has been in business since 1980, and they have always been known for their chicken fingers and special sauce.  Yep you guessed it, just exactly like Cane's chicken fingers and sauce, even the same toast!  Well this former employee wrote in and divulged the recipe that Cane's says is a secret.  They only had a recipe that would make a ton of sauce, so the Times Picayune cut it down into normal proportions, and then they made a batch and taste tested it before they printed the recipe.  They said it tastes EXACTLY like Cane's sauce, so here it is!

    1/2 Cup Mayo
    1/4 Cup Ketchup
    1/2 TBSP Garlic Powder
    1/2 TBSP Worcestershire Sauce
    1 TSP Paprika
Black Pepper - sprinkle a generous amount, covering the surface of the mixture 2 or 3 times.

Mix well, let stand in the fridge for a few hours, then serve.
