woohoo! Christmas shopping = done!

I just bought the last Christmas present for this year - yaaaaay! Ahhh, it feels so good to be finished so early!

ETA: Crap. Just realized we still have one more to go, for SIL's boyfriend/fiance/whatever he is. Shopping for him kills me every year. He likes fishing (I'd have no idea what he would want/need for that since he already has a buttload of stuff) and cheap rum (yes, seriously). I keep thinking he must have other interests, but after knowing him for three years and desperately trying to get him to talk about something other than those two things, I still have no idea what those other interests might be...between you and me, he's the most boring person on the planet. *sigh* Off to brainstorm with Ben for this one...

Re: woohoo! Christmas shopping = done!

  • I'm almost done, and sooo glad!  I have one more thing I'm thinking of picking up for my mom, and I need to make some mix CD's for my BFF, and one for her daughter.

If your SIL's whatever-he-is enjoys being on a boat all day and drinking rum, maybe you should get him an eyepatch and a parrot to wear on his shoulder. Big Smile

I think this is a REALLY good idea!

  • LOL @ the eyepatch and parrot!

I think I'm mostly done.  We adopted a family yesterday so they will be the focus of anything else that we do.  I'm really excited about it - I think it will give some sense of purpose to the remainder of the shopping since Lord knows we don't need anything else!

  • YIPEEEEE!!!!  Good job girl!

I'm almost done, just stocking stuff left :)

  • Hurray for being done!  I'm done too!  Well, sort of...  I might have to do a few add-ons... Bleh, add ons...
  • Gah, I'm jealous! I've only bought for about half of my nieces & nephews, still need parents, sisters, DH, and Cassie. I'm in trouble!

  • Haha, I'm like you. I thought I was all done (ordered everything from Amazon so it was easy too), but then MH told me that his aunt & uncle might be in town, so I guess we might have more shopping to do...

Can't wait to be TOTALLY done!

    LMAO!

Seriously, it's a struggle every year to find something to give him. He doesn't read books, he doesn't watch movies, and there aren't any generic-type stores where they live that I could just get him a gift certificate to (well, none that I can buy online, anyway). This is how you can tell I'm evil - every Christmas I wish SIL would find a new guy with more interests, just so he'd be easier to shop for. Sad

  • I'm so jealous of all of you. I'm in Christmas denial. We usually go to Oahu in October, celebrate several family birthdays in November and Christmas kicks in right after Thanksgiving. This year, everything is askew. I went to New Orleans in October, Hawaii in November, having my daughter's birthday party this Saturday (2 weeks after due to TG vacation), celebrating my sister and mother's birthdays even later. At the rate I'm going, I'll have to send out "Happy New Year" presents.

Oh, but I do have one Hawaiian Christmas ornament hanging from my stocking hanger on the mantel.

I think you should get the fisherman a new hobby. Randomly pick something... then, buy him something in that category every year. C'mon it'll be fun!

Say, something like organic gardening... knitting... fine woodworking (or just whittling) ...astronomy... whatever it is, just be consistent... it's his new passion.

I'm totally going with knitting. Stick out tongue
