DH told me last night that a co-worker (a male) made several harassing comments to a number of female staff members at his office. Apparently, one of the comments was this guy lamenting about being newly single and striking out with the ladies, and he mused that what he really should get his hands on is "some date rape drug" so he could get some "action". Yeh, for real. The girl was so upset about the comment that she went to DH (as he is a manager) to share with him that, not only was the comment offensive and threatening, but that she had once been slipped something in her drink at a bar and was, herself, assaulted as a result! DH spoke to the guy, and let him know that he must apologize for what he said, and he explained why he cannot say those types of things.
Then just a few days ago the guy walks into the call centre area of the office (where 5 women work) and announced that one of them had a "nice rack", and then went on a rant about women and how, if they would only "close their legs", they wouldn't need so many abortions...on and on and on.
When DH was told about it, he immediately went to the GM o let him know what had happened. The GM seemed unphased, even after DH explained the position that this guy's behaviour put the company in. Brutal. So, DH contacted the Human Rights Commission, and the Labour Board and got all the info needed for the ladies to file a formal complaint. He is backing them 100%. I am really glad he has such strong morals...most people wouldn't put themselves out there like that. Good for him!
Re: I am really proud of DH
That is really good of him... Especially since he is a male.... It would make me feel more secure i

whoa! ?Are there no internal policies about harassment?
I am shocked the GM had nothing to say. ?I guess those ladies are lucky to have a manager to back them up!
That is awesome that he is standing up for them like that. That's good that he is sticking to his guns too.
I had a coworker say inappropriate things about the women that worked at my workplace. One of my male coworkers with good morals went to the manager about and she just brushed it off. They really liked this guy because he was "charming" and he was working in event planning - so he had to do a lot of schmoozing to get deals, etc. I think they just didn't want to have to find a new person to fill the position. He still works there and he totally skeeves me out.
