Baby shower gift- opinion pls

Since a couple weeks ago, everything big is gone from my friends registry. So I'm thinking of buying this really cute giraffe hamper they registered for and stuffing it full of clothes, diapers, bottles and a bunch of the little things they registered for. Instead of wrapping everything just put a big bow around the hamper and organize it all cute inside. What do you guys think? Should I wrap everything? Or is this just a totally lame idea?

Re: Baby shower gift- opinion pls

  • Love the idea. I'd say wrap the small gifts before putting them in the hamper.

  • That's a wicked good idea! I think a lot of the time people don't get those little things because everyone wants to give a themed gift, so sticking them in the hamper is a great idea. You could wrap them before you put them in, but I don't think it's necessary, unless you can see through the hamper.

  • Oh and the other thing is if they registered for diapers, then put those in, but if not I would hold off because you never know what kind of diapers they may end up using.

  • I hate wrapping gifts-- it seems like such a waste of paper (to me)... it would take a lot of time to open each individual small gift at the shower! Great idea though! I think if you got towels or whatever, you could tie each one separately with a ribbon or something like that.

  • I think it's a great idea. Unless they are cloth diapering I think people welcome diapers with open arms. My cousin got registered for pampers since that's what the hospital she delivered gave out.
  • Phew! GIad you guys think it's ok!  think I might wrap some of the things that are easier to wrap, or some of the bigger items and leave some unwrapped. Or maybe I'll tie everything with a cute ribbon or something. I was worried  not wrapping anything would be kind of weird but maybe if I do cute bows or something it would be ok?

Jcam- good call on the diapers. I thought about that too, luckily theyr'e using cloth diapers which they registered for so I might get some of the covers for them.

  • I love the idea.  I say don't wrap anything.  It will take her long enough to take each item out and ooh and ahh and show it off to everyone.  Unwrapping all of them too would just take forever.
  • I think it's a super cute idea!  I think it's fine to not wrap every little thing inside; it's easier for them too and saves time on opening a million little items.  Putting bows on them sounds cute if you feel like you have to do something.  It's more environmentally friendly too not to wrap everything!
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I think that's an awesome idea, even if you don't wrap everything.

ETA: My MIL gave me a hamper with a bunch of stuff in it at my wedding shower and she didn't wrap anything but she put tissue paper along the sides and on the top of it so you couldn't see in, maybe you could do that.

Oh that's awesome! Both that they are CDing, and that you would buy them some covers :-)

They're big fans of eco-friendly products, as are we so I love supporting it. By your comment I suspect you plan to be a cloth-diapering mama too? I hope I can get a washing machine by the time we have a little one. Otherwise, yikes haha.

  • If you're going to put alot of things in there then I would skip the hassle of wrapping everythign and just bow the hamper. Plus it saves them the pain of having to unwrap everything because you know all the guests are going to want to know what every present is inside there.

I definitely want to, but I still haven't convinced my husband. I really really hope I can!
