My Poem :)
This is for Cassie and whoever else (from the TPT post) wants to read this poem that M wrote as an anniversary present. He has a hidden talent for writing and hardly EVER shows it, so this was pretty special to me 
It's kind of our whole story (from the very beginning when we met and he blew me off, to us meeting again, to now) made into a poem!
"One Year Down, Eternity To Go"
Young, innocent teenagers we both were,
You were a freshmen and I was a sophomore.
Your braces sparkled as you smiled.
I looked stupid with my hair gel all piled.
We both waved hello embarrassingly,
But I would end up leaving you alone carelessly.
How could I make such a huge mistake?
I just blew off the cutest girl at the football game, for God's sake!
Two and a half years passed.
New IM from RoxyRiverChic appears before my eyes.
This is my chance at last!
"Is this Dana?" Typed MR.BYWA
"Well yes," said Dana, "I saw you on RateUSA!"
Hours and hours spent on the phone,
We learned about each other,
Everything there was to be known.
Eventually we would meet again,
Quickly falling for each other.
Dana, my blond Barbie,
And Me, Dana's long haired Ken.
Beach trips, Disneyland and Movie Friday,
All times spent together wanting to just run away.
Long drives in the Blazer and black Saturn,
I in the passenger seat and you at the wheel was the familiar pattern.
Best friends we were,
But like avoiding a busy highway,
It was time for a quick detour.
Like broken glass, our hearts shattered.
I needed to win you back.
Nothing else mattered.
I fought hard and cried,
Making a music video of our life.
Perfect Situation by Weezer sure was a Dana pleaser.
Our hearts mended together once more.
With you, life is never a bore.
Holding hands together, while sitting in coach,
Looking down at the city and dozens of yellow cockroach.
As soon as things got good, they went sour.
Despite another break-up,
we were still on each others minds every minute of the hour.
You escaped to Vegas for your special day.
Friends, family, together you all stayed.
Noticing without me you couldn't have much fun,
A quick phone call later, and I was there to celebrate you turning 21.
Realizing we were destined lovers,
I took a quick trip to Robbins Brothers.
On one knee I proposed,
With a tear in your eye, I knew you couldn't say no.
And so the wedding planning began.
"Pink, black, white or blue?"
"Pomona Valley? Etiwanda Gardens?"
"What do you want to do?"
"Vanilla, strawberry, chocolate or lemon?"
I just wanted to go on the honeymoon so we could go swimmin?!
Nov 1st 2008 finally came.
From this day on, nothing would ever be the same.
I watched as you walked down that aisle, angelic and all.
My knees went weak.
I thought I was going to fall.
With a tear in both our eyes,
We swapped rings, and said our vows.
It was now time to kiss the bride!
Exhausted but excited, we checked into our hotel very late.
But we didn't care how tired we were,
It was time to consummate!
The Road to Hana, Cool Cat Cafe, DT Fleming Beach, and Old Lahaina Luau were all fun just to name a few.
But we still haven't gotten our money back from that snorkeling trip?
Maybe we should sue?
You?re so easy to live with,
Except for mornings when you?re too weak.
I promise to always put down the seat, after I'm done taking a leak.
You wanted a baby right off the bat,
I disagreed, so I bought you a cat.
You urged me again that you wanted a belly, I insisted that we bring home Cali.
True Blood, Big Love and One tree Hill,
You?re my Sookie, and I'm your Bill.
Thanks for always being here to hold down the fort,
As I'm off chasing my dream, at some random airport.
Unfortunately on Sunday,
I will be in Europe.
But on Tuesday morning,
I'll be sure to take you out for waffles with syrup.
But no worries,
A few days from now, we'll be in Mexico on a cruise,
Not having to worry about an alarm clock, nor having to hit the snooze.
It's hard to believe it's already been a year.
Times have been tough, but we'll make it, I swear.
So lucky to have you,
So lost without you,
You are my GPS system in life,
I am so lucky to have you as my wife.
