Re: Slow Knot?

  • I have noticed that it is really slow today and the screen isn't fully loading.

When will we get answers to a lot of these questions, I wonder?

  • Slow here too. SOmetimes the page times out.
  • I thought it was just my internet....maybe not

  • It's definitely been slow for me, thereby making my mod duties extra painful, especially with the dress board because I have to check every single post there and each page takes forever to load.  hopefully things will speed up soon.

  • In general, when I use Firefox as my browser instead of IE, the boards are pretty fast.  Yesterday though it was really slow and difficult all day.  I think they were doing updates yesterday.

Most users on my board found that if they used Firefox or Google Chrome, the boards were just as fast as the old format.

  • Posters have found different things work for them, but so far seems like Firefox works the best. I also downloaded adblocker and blocked baynote.net (actually did that before the switch) and things have been rolling along smoothly.

  • Safari also works well, but there are a lot of bugs that haven't been fixed for that browser.

It's unfortunate that we have to find workarounds to view the boards at acceptable speeds.  Even more unfortunate that I work at a place where I'm not allowed to download other programs.  I'm with Kappa - this makes my duties as a mod VERY difficult.

  • Agree! Hard to Mod definitely!

Where did you download the Adblocker?

  • It is really awful. When I click on a post or a board, I have to switch over to a different window and do something else while it loads. Then I read, respond, and wait again for it to load, then wait AGAIN to get back to the main board.

I really don't understand why it's so bogged down like that. Perhaps there is far too much going on with the coding, and it should be simplified like the Nest.

Ditto this too. The knot isn't so bad when I'm at home on Firefox, but I have to use IE here at work, and it's practically impossible to load the boards for me.

I do use Firefox (been using it for years) so maybe it's just something with my computer.  I have no idea.

  • I haven't really been having any problems with the speed (using Firefox).  It was SLOW the first day or two but got a lot better.

And I don't think I have seen anyone on my board complaining recently.

This is my situation too. I try to browse a little bit during my lunch break, but I try to read the threads with a lot of posts or the ones that may be vendor-y first. Of course with only 1/2 hour for lunch, I get to read maybe 2 or 3 posts max...

Right after I posted this, I polled my board.  They all say it's slow as Christmas.  Some of them aren't posting much anymore because of it.

  • My board has taken refuge on the Nest until the slowness can get fixed.  If your board does the same, I recommend you ask Annie to pick an empty board for you to take over.  Nesties seem to freak out over any little change to their boards -- sort of like Dustin Hoffman's character in Rainman.

We're enjoying the tropical atmosphere of the Caribbean board, but we can't wait to get back home to AFSB.
