Holiday shopping poll...

Tried 2x to do this as a poll, but I'm poll challenged, I guess...

How do you holiday shop?

1.  Malls, malls, malls!...love the crowds, music, decorations, Mall Santas!

2.  ONLINE ONLY-free shipping and coupon codes! how can you miss?

3.  I support my local merchants-and go to small shops...

4.  Screws da shops! I make my own stuff!

5.  A mix of the above...

6.  Ba humbug! They're lucky they get a card from me!

Re: Holiday shopping poll...

  • This is a hard one for me because M has been a total Scrooge the past couple years.  I'm trying to convince him to get actual gifts this year and not just money in a "Hallmark card".  Yea, that's right, that's what we've done the past couple years because that's all he would do, he thinks buying the Hallmark brand card makes up for not thinking about a gift for the person.  I told him it's not very thoughtful of a gift and he said that we put "lots of thought into the card so that should count, people need to stop b*tching, if they don't like what we give them, then they won't get nothing, if someone were to give me money in a card I would appreciate, I'd rather get the money and use it for something I want then to receive something I don't like".  Nice eh?  I married an as$hole Scrooge.
  • I'm #5, a mix of the above options.

This year I'm doing primarily online shopping since I haven't had any time to go out and don't have much access to a car lately.  I typically only shop online if I can find a really good deal (usually free shipping).  I enjoy being in the mall and local shops around the holidays, it's just such a great atmosphere (unless it's insanely crowded).

  • It use to be #1 & #3 but this year I'm mostly #2.

  • I'm a mix. Small shops and local merchants . . . and Amazon.com, which I feel a little bad about because I love little independent book stores. But it's so easy. We knocked out 85% of our shopping yesterday with an order.

Mall, I avoid, which is easy since there aren't any in NYC. We don't do a lot of gifts, so I like to find something unique.

  • Yep-I agree Cassie!
I, too, ordered stuff from Amazon yesterday, but love going to the small shops-hope to get downtown here and visit-it'll be packed, though.

Then again, I go every year (this Sat-yah!!!) and meet an ole college friend for our traditional Park City Mall shopping, then Olive Garden cause-not sure why, but we always go there afterwards!  I get the majority of my shopping done the first Sat in December cause of this...

  • I do a mix of mall and online.  I hate hate hate being in a crowded store, it makes me feel like I'm back in high school pushing down the hall to the next class, no thanks!  I would do all online, but I don't like to pay shipping on everything.
  • Forgot to add... When my niece/nephews were young, I absolutely hated going to toy stores! The strollers, the kids screaming-agh!  I swear I would get overheated just by entering a store.  Glad that's done-they all want clothes now =) or books...

  • I am a mix of 1 and 3. I love to go to the mall and shop around. I love crowds and music and the whole shibag -- hence the BF shopping too haha. I like to go to local shops though bc I like to support small business. Plus they have a lot of nice unique things.

Unfortunately with our family, we usually end up getting gift cards. I hate it, but my older sister is a bit of a B! If you don't get her something exactly that she tells you, then she will complain and want to return it. Even if she likes what you chose, If she didn't tell you to buy it she doesn't want it. My parents and H's parents have everything so we can't buy them anything useful and I hate buying people junk/something they'll never use. At least I get to buy my little sister and her boyfriend gifts =).

  • I'm a 5...I like to do a little bit of all of it!
