Looks like Tiger really is a cheetah. (hehe)

This is horrendous. I don't condone hitting people with golf clubs, but if I was Elin, it would have taken an army and the sheer will of God for me to not go Lorraina Bobbit on his ass.
I'm friends with everybody in this office. We're all best friends - I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late, and start having dentist appointments that aren't dentist appointments. And that's when it is nice to let them know that you can beat them up.

Mamie is in my head.
No, no apologies necessary to the public. But his telling the media to back off is ridic - you can't go parading around your family when things are good (ie, the cover of People when his second baby was born looking every bit the part of Daddy Dearest/ Family Man), but then tell them to go away when things are bad. It's part of being a celebrity. Especially when affairs and cheating are what sell tabloids. Even more especially when done by men/ women who you'd never expect it from.
And even even even more when you have 2 kids under the age of 3, and one of those affairs has lasted over 3 years. Ew. He's lucky one of those women didn't give him an STD that he could have given to his wife, or passed on to a child.

The wife's hotness has nothing to do with it (see: Halle Berry). It's about power.
But given how frequently cheating happens among the famous, I am surprised that we as a nation are not over it already. Celebrities and politicians cheat! It means they shouldn't be married. It does not mean they're bad at their job. It's between the two in the relationship. Why is it any of our business?

Power, self entitlement, same thing.
I think pp made a good point (either in this thread or the other, can't remember). While it's not our "business", when they choose to parade their perfect little families in the media, they don't get to call off the hounds when things are imperfect. I think it's also why people have a harder time when Republican politicians do these kinds of things over Dems. Republicans tout family values and all that is good and moral, and they look like big ole hypocrites when they screw around. When people openly and publicly present themselves in a certain light, they are gonna take a lot of heat when it's revealed that is was all a sham.
He'll probably still be a good golfer after this (or maybe not, it could totally affect his mojo), but his popularity as a person is plummetting, and with that, the "purse" at the tournaments he's in will go down (they attribute higher purses to his popularity), so his career will falter some there, too, even if he continues to kick butt. He's probably also going to lose alot of sponsorships. That makes complete sense. And this is all his own doing. The only person who didn't ask for this is his HOT wife.

I also don't see what the big deal is. LOTS of people cheat, not just celebrities. I think pro athletes are probably the biggest scoundrels of all though. Having been courted by a married pro baseball player myself (thank God for google!), who insisted he was divorced (not so much). For the most part, the wives know exactly what's happening. I think spending the big $$$ helps them cope with it. That's whorish in its own right.
PS-I would also like to add that I dated an unmarried pro baseball player for a while and sat with the other wives at games. For the most part, it's kind of an unspoken, yet know thing among them that their husbands aren't faithful when they're out of town. Ultimately why we broke up. I didn't want to have to always have that uncertainty. No amount of money is worth that anguish.?
I think more people are interested because of the circumstances surrounding the situation. I had no idea Tiger was being accused of cheating until his little run in with a tree and Elin swinging golf clubs at his Escalade.
I think a lot of it also comes from Tiger being someone that no one expected to stray, esp with his "daddy" routine. Yes, a lot of people have affairs, but its the ones that you don't expect that get the most attention. A-Rod and other athletes have cheated, absolutely, and they've been in the news - but you kind of expect it now. Tiger was different, IMO.
