I don't know if he got them from the doggie-sitter or just from being outside. The vet said they are really bad this year, I gave him some medicine two weeks ago and it has not helped, I have another treatment for him next week, and he's on an antibiotic.
Does anyone have any recs about what to do to keep our house clean or how to clean it? We of course, have a newborn baby and our furniture and carpeting is all brand-new in our house, so I would prefer not to bomb our house or use any stinky chemicals.
Re: My dog has fleas.
A good tip I used to tell people is to get a flea collar and put it in your vacuum bag.
Sucking up the flea eggs in your rug is the best way to get rid of them, so exposing them to the chemicals after they are in the bag will help ensure they don't keep reproducing.
Wear gloves when you touch the flea collar though.
If you are using a good flea product like Advantage, your dog will act like a "walking exterminator". When the dead fleas fall off, the ones living in your rugs will feed off of the body and ingest the drug and die too.
Good Luck!
I've heard of those flea-light things where you put them on the floor and they flock to it. I don't know how they work, but it's worth a try-
