A Baby Story
This couple is planning a home birth. This couple seems very sensible, unlike most of the home birth couples that are shown on this show. And what makes me feel better is that their friends are all judgey and have lots of questions for them about the home birth, but they have answers - reasonable answers - for everything.
Not that I would have the courage to have a home birth, but they almost make you think twice about it. Pretty cool!

She ended up having to be transferred to the hospital because her labor wasn't progressing.
My issue with home births is that the people tend to want to do it completely on their own with no medical professionals, etc. But they had a nurse, a doctor (her sister) and a stand-by physician at the hospital for consultation. Much more responsible IMHO than others I've seen.

I read a book about Home Births and Midwife Births at a birthing center. They stories in the book are amazing.
If it weren't so messy, and if I had a good midwife and doula, I may consider having a home birth.
I am only having a hospital birth because there are no birthing centers around me. I think there are too many things that doctors do that are supposed to be interventions but are used regularly. I have started writing my birth plan, and I can tell you now, I am going to have to fight for a few of the things on there.
