Poor Elise

She loooooves Santa, she calls him "ho ho ho".  But she only loves him from afar.  We've got tons of Santa stuff around the house and she is thrilled, but we took her to sit on his lap the other day and she freaked.  Kicking, screaming, the works.  I keep taking her every few days to the mall so she can see the other kids sitting on his lap, maybe closer to Christmas she'll want to.

I worried that her experience being so scared and all would make her not like all the "ho ho ho" stuff in the house, but it hasn't.  She still loves him, just not up close.  Poor baby!

Re: Poor Elise

  • Poor baby! It is kind of creepy to sit with an old man in a fake beard. Maybe next year she'll be better with it.

  • yeah, she loved it last year and even loved sitting with the easter bunny, but this year is a different story!

  • I think Santa is daunting to a lot of kids. She does pretty well with strangers though. She let John and I both hold her. maybe if you went up to Santa together and just shook his hand or gave him a "high five" that would help. I know you want to get that adorable picture. Good luck

  • Poor thing! I know how you feel though, we took my sons and one was okay with Santa, the other freaked out! We got a cute picture of one screaming and the other with his tongue sticking out.

The "santa's helper" there told us they see kids ages 1-4 freak out the most!

  • One of my classmates just took her son to see Santa and both her and her husband had to be in the picture or he wouldn't sit with him lol He is 2.

Maybe like you said if you go up there with her and say hi to him she'll feel more comfortable.
