Ok, let's say my company has about 35 popular designs of Holiday cards.
They kind of break down in the following categories:
1. Christmasy - Ranging form very Christmasy like Christmas trees, ornaments, and wreaths to semi-Christmasy bells with holly, etc.
2. Wintery or Holiday neutral - Snowflakes, snowscenes, evergreen trees, masculine looking reindeer heads, etc.
3. Religious - We have a few angel cards, a card with a cathedral, peace doves, a wisemen, and a manger scene,
We have mostly Christmasy cards, followed by Holiday neutral cards, and then probably about 8 religious cards. We sell a pretty even split between Christmasy/Holiday neutral cards, depending on the year. Since we're in New York, a lot of our customers want something somewhat neutral because they're sending it out to a diverse group - ESPECIALLY our corporate clients. We literally only sell a few boxes of religious cards each year. There just isn't much of a market for them in our area. And well, we are a business so we need to do what's profitable.
So I had a lady come in yesterday who wanted to see our religious cards. I brought them out for her and she got pissed at me that we didn't have more. Why? Because she claimed our religious cards weren't very Christmasy.
Excuse me? The baby Jesus in a manger isn't very Christmasy? The angel Gaberiel isn't very Christmas? THE THREE WISEMEN AREN'T VERY CHRISTMASY?!
WHAT DO YOU WANT LADY?! SANTA KNEELING IN THE MANGER?! I'M SORRY BUT I'M PRETTY SURE CHRISTMAS TREES WEREN'T IN SEASON IN JERUSALEM WHEN JESUS WAS BORN.
Re: Omg, Christmas
