I do too. It makes me cry and it's so depressing. I hear the song once and I'm sad for the rest of the day.
No one wants to think about their mother dying. I can't stand my mother, but the thought of her dying is even worse than whatever crap she makes me put up with.
And seriously, why shoes? Why does the song dribble all these feelings into a material object? I have no idea, but it's effective. The song tears at your heartstrings.
My thoughts exactly when I read the other responses. This song makes me tear up too, maybe some people dont get the point of the song....

My feelings exactly. On that note, we have a Christmas Treasury book. In it is the story of the "Little Match Girl". I cried like a baby after reading it. I totally avoid that book now.
Another vote for hating that song here.
I get the point of it. But I also think it's extremely overplayed and mostly just made to play on your emotions and make you cry.
I change the station every time that song comes on. Ick. Can't stand it.
