Flip Mino Camcorder Question
Does anyone have one of these? My mom is looking into a small camcorder for my sister, and I told her I would ask around on the interwebz. If you don't know about the Flip, how about another small video camera? TIA!

Re: Flip Mino Camcorder Question
I have the Flip Ultra HD. It's great for a quick little camera to shoot videos of the pets doing something funny, or for something to carry in your purse to catch those moments you might miss because you don't want to lug a regular camcorder around. Transfer to youtube or other sites is very easy.
How old is your sister and what would she primarily use it for? I love mine...but then again, I don't take serious videos at all. Stabilization can be a bit of an issue based on reviews I've read, but I don't have a problem with it. It suits my needs very well, and I researched a couple of other brands (Kodak and one other that I can't remember) prior to purchasing...and the UltraHD came out on top. However, if she wants to make really high quality videos, wants zoom capability, etc, she may be better off with a real camcorder.
I do love the fact that the UltraHD operates on standard AA batteries. I think the Mino requires you recharge it with an adapter or through the USB on your computer (or at least the older model did). The UltraHD (which is just slightly larger - size-wise) comes with a set of rechargeable AA batteries, so you can either charge it through the USB port, or just trade those batteries out for standard AAs. It came in handy recently when I didn't want to deal with waiting for the rechargeable batteries to charge.
Let me know if you have any other questions (you can PM me or send me a message on our June 09 board).
She is 15. It would mainly be tossed in her tote bag or backpack to capture funny times at school or during her after school activities. I think it would be neat to have something like that. She has a tight group of friends that are always doing crazy things, and I am sure she would capture some of that on a small camcorder.
Thanks for letting me know, hopscotch!
