I know facial products have been discussed here before and it's a popular complaint that nothing works!
I wanted to kind of report back - I started the Oil Cleansing Method several weeks ago (I honestly can't remember how long ago - at least 3-4 weeks.) This has taken me through the times I normally break out THE WORST and my chin looks terrible thanks to PMS breakouts.
I'm curious to see how well this holds up, but I've had LESS breakouts and improved skin quality (less oil, less dry patches, smoother feel overall).
I actually have to mix together my second batch of oil tonight, but for a pretty oily T-zone and normal other areas, I'm using a mixture of ~27% castor oil to 73% sunflower oil. I've also changed so I wash my face upstairs with a few washclothes (rinse them in the kitchen sink) and then pop them in the microwave for a little bit to get them steamy without having to rinse the SUPER hot water out with my bare hands.
Just wanted to pass on my experience!
Re: Oil Cleansing Method
I gave up on this actually...it made my face look great, but I was having a few break outs on my chest...after about a week on it my chest flipped out. I couldn't wear anything but turtlenecks b/c it was so embarassing.
I may try it again on my face b/c it was really working and it took my makeup off better than anything i've ever bought. Even though my face got better, I had to stop using Bare Minerals makeup b/c it wasn't enough coverage...I'm using some really gental Nutragena (sp) soap now and their On The Spot cream at night...in addition to Aveada's Outer Peace pads.

I actually agree with Val on the makeup removal - I thought it was crazy when it claimed it could get off my makeup well. But it does, which is nice, and doesn't irritate my eyes like EVERYTHING ELSE I've tried.
The only downfall is it DOES TAKE like 10-15 minutes/night. But in the morning, I don't even wash my face anymore - just wipe it off gently a few times with a nice warm washcloth.
Similar to the doubting of makeup removal, I thought I'd NEVER use just the oil dabbed on as a moisturizer, but I do for the most part. I only have to use it on my eye area and a little around spots on my chin where it dries out.
