Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
Is anyone else getting complaints on their boards that the site is taking too long to load now that we've changed to a new format? I have had a few girls come on and say that they hardly ever come on the knot now because of this issue. I'm not noticing much of a difference except for the knot tv that tries to load at the top (I don't have the application on my computer to make it work and it causes me to hit "OK" in a drop down box every few second for about 30 seconds).
So, anyone else? Also, if Annie or Jen is reading this, is there anything that can be done about the pages loading too slowly?
Ignorance is a poor defense.
Re: Boards too slow?
Yes - there's a post below about this topic. It's really affecting my board - slowness, TV, old post links broken (that people had saved for future reference), no mobile Knotting, no reply text in the emails, etc. Lots of things contributing to an overall slower board.
Annie said in one of my posts below that they'd be fixing the slowness this past week by adding/optimizing the servers (??), but that must have been delayed (how ironic).

If you access the boards without Knot Tv, it should be faster.

Also, a lot of us have figured out that if you use Firefox rather than Internet Explorer, it's MUCH faster.
We have a major update on Wednesday for this issue. I'd like to get your feedback then. There should be a noticeable difference.
Thanks.
Just a quick question...re: TV. Are people saying the tv is expanding/collapsing? I noticed some people hit the browser refresh rather than hitting the breadcrumb--which has always caused the TV to reload. Do you think people on your board know to hit the breadcrumb to refresh the page?
And, just to clarify, we're actually removing most of the java script from the page to make them much faster (esp in IE which loads java super slow). The servers were optimized but it just didn't help enough. If IT doesn't get it this time, I think Annie and I might go bald from pulling our own hair out. And, until then, just encourage people to use FF or chrome (definitely the fastest) if they are able to.
Most people on my board naturally used the refresh button until I told them about the breadcrumb trail. It's just not that intuitive for someone coming onto a message board to relearn how to surf the Internet.

Even using the breadcrumb, my tv keep expanding every time I clicked on a new post. Now I have C&P'd the url of just the message board and booked marked it, so I don't get the tv at all anymore. But before I did that, I could NOT get it to stay collapsed.
And in response to the OP - yes, EVERYONE on my board is complaining. The NYC board has been struggling for a while, and I think this change drove the few holdouts we had left running for the hills.
