Do you eat out on Christmas Eve?

This is our first eyar we'll be in Cincinnati (I'm from Cleveland) for Xmas. We used to eat out for Christmas Eve dinner when I was back home.... but we're thinking of moving on with this tradition this year even though we're in Cincy.

We used to eat at Chinese restaurants on Christmas Eve, since they seemed to be the only restaurants open.

Does anyone else eat out for Christmas Eve?

If so, where?

Re: Do you eat out on Christmas Eve?

  • My immediate family (mom, dad, me, sister) has eaten out for Christmas Eve every single year of my life. It's pretty much our little tradition (and now DH and sister's long term bf are also invited). When I was little, we used to eat at the Revolving Restaurant at the Radisson in Covington a lot. We've also done casual places like O'Charley's if they were the only thing open. I also want to say that in one of the recent years, we ate at Montgomery Inn. Not sure where we are eating this year!
  • Nope we do not eat out on Christmas eve. We have a big family dinner.
  • Thats too funny!  I thot we were the only ppl!  Its kinda our tradition too.  We go to outback, mont. inn, places like that.  Most everything is open until 9 ish.  Have fun :)

  • We ate at Red Lobster one time.  My parents have eaten at Outback a few times.

DH's family does a big party on Xmas eve so we go there.

  • We might this year because my sister will be staying with us, we might just get Chinese or a pizza and bring it home though. We'll have our "real" Christmas dinner on Christmas day.
  • No, we go to family gatherings.  We stayed home when we were kids b/c my mom always worked Christmas Eve night (nurse).  My dad was too cheap to get takeout!

  • My mom always does finger food.  Everyone bring something and we sit around and eat like skyline dip, buff chicken ranch, homemade nachos.  Stuff like that...its yummy!
  • We have always eaten our for Christmas Eve but they are always nice dinners at quaint, inn-like places (think Golden Lamb which is the quintessential Christmas Eve dinner venue for us). Last year with Katherine being 4 months old dinner did not go well at all and I am sad to say we will be putting this tradition on hold until she is older. :( But I have every intention of resurrecting it when she's older.

  • My dad's side of the family celebrates on Christmas eve so we always go to my grandma's house for dinner. I work during the day so Christmas Eve is always a giant mess for us trying to rush around.

  • Part of my family's Christmas Eve tradition is a nice dinner out. The last couple years it's been at The Melting Pot, though we have done other places. I don't get to be part of that tradition anymore, though, because my husband's side of the family celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve...so we have a dinner at my MIL's house.
