Holiday Cards at Work

People at my work frequently have packages sent here for a variety of reasons.  Because of the holidays, there is always an increase in this during Dec. but I'm noticing more and more people receiving personal holiday cards here as well.

Am I the only one that thinks there is something wrong with your friends and family sending their holiday cards to the office rather than your home?  Not neccessarily because it's a business but because how much time do you have to be spending here that you can't even pick up your mail at home?
And while the general street address is easily accessible online, you would have to specifically give out your mailbox number so it is delivered to the right floor.  It just seems really strange that people wouldn't use their home address for this...

Re: Holiday Cards at Work

  • Yeah, I'm guilty of having packages delivered to the office (i.e. all of our wedding gifts), but personal mail should go to a personal address.

Although, one year DH's grandfather didn't have our current address, but he did have one of DH's business cards.  He sent a birthday card to my husband at work and it floated around forever before it got to him.  We had never even considered getting personal mail at work before that.

  • I seriously understand packages, especially if they are valuable and/or need to be signed for. Our last place had mail stolen, so definitely nervous about packages going there. But Christmas cards, seriously?  Makes me think these people don't want their "friends" knowing where they live.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

    Or their relatives.

True, I have a few of those I would like to lose my address!

  • Weird. We get holiday cards here to the business, but not personal employee ones.

I get most of my online shopping packages delivered to my office because I live in an apt and don't trust my packages to sit out on my balcony. Most of my coworkers do this too. My boss once pitched a fit about it a few years ago, but we obviously don't listen. :)

I figure I sign for the work packages, I should get my own too!  The UPS delivery guy always pointed out when a package was a wedding gift to me.

  • Yeah we have a lot of packages that come in because they are gifts or people live in an apt. but there are a hand full of people that seem to get everything from holiday cards to wedding invites, etc. sent here.

  • I think that's weird too.  I usually ship packages to work since it's a small company/family owned.  I would not have family and friends send personal cards there.
