Please recommend your privacy trees/shrubs.

We're looking to make our yard a little more private from our new next door neighbor's yard.  They put up a kind of crappy white lattace fence (half assed at that) and I'd like to put up some sort of trees or shrubs to help divide the yard a little better.  Maybe a flowering tree?  Then again, I wouldn't want things to fall onto their property line since they're a little...odd.

TIA!

  • This would depend on what zone you're in.

  • It would depend on your zone as well as site conditions (sun exposure, soil moisture and composition, wind exposure, etc. etc. etc.) and how much room you have to work with.

  • Evergreens!  Since I don't know your Zone, I'd recommend some that do well in most areas.  Any kind of Holly usually does well in most areas and can create a nice dense privacy screen and has multi-seasonal interest.  Some others I'd recommend are False Cypress (tho not in very wet areas), large Arborvitae (which come in a variety of colors), or maybe some shrub or tree form Blue Spruces.  I don't know your light conditions either, most of these do well in full-part sun. HTH!
