Guess it's our turn for a 'fight'...

DH gets up around 5:15-5:30. I get up at 6.  He's usually up and almost out the door by the time I get 'up', but seems to like to wake me up every morning whether it is sitting on my feet when he puts his shoes on, do a butt grab to 'say bye'... and the like.

This am, he asks if my alarm is set (yes, almost always for 6am-it's not yet 6).  He is using my alarm to get up today.  I always hit my snooze once-at least once.  I say-does he really have to wake me up every single day?!  He gets up and doesn't even say bye this am (which really irks me).

I get a text-calling me cranky pants. ok, but every morning, really?... I just want those few sacred minutes of sleep...  Anyway, he thinks he is being considerate asking me if my alarm is set.  I wonder why he didn't set his? (He lets his beep, mine plays the radio and I listen to it as I get ready and it turns off after an hour...so no resetting of mine)  I think he's joking about this, but he seems pretty mad-even says (email now) he can move his clothes to the boys' room so as not to wake me up in the am! Um, no, that's not happening...

Why can't he just not sit on my feet-I rarely move-and just kiss my head 'bye' in the am? So, now he's grumpy and his last email is 'see you at home'.

UGH!  (just venting here...out of frustration...) Thanks!

Re: Guess it's our turn for a 'fight'...

  • That stinks!  Hope he's not really mad about this.

ETA: I get up before DH (I get up at 5, he doesn't get up until 7:30-7:45).  I try my best to be quiet and not wake him--close doors when I turn on lights, use small lights instead of turning all lights on).  He has the alarm clock on his side though and wakes up when it goes off for me.  I say goodbye and give him a kiss when I leave, but usually he's totally incoherent and still asleep when that happens.  Maybe DH can modfiy his morning routine a little if it's really bothersome to you!

  • I feel ya on the whole waking up every morning part.  M used to do that, until I told him to knock the shiit off, in my own way.  He would get up (he gets up at 4-ish a.m.  I get up at 7), turn every light on outside the bedroom, get dressed in the bedroom (he's loud as hell getting dressed) and walk around doing his morning "things" all with the lights on and the bedroom doors wide open.  I had started off by saying something to him and he would call me grumpy, like your DH said and tell me to give over it (not in those exact words, but you get it).  So I started getting up once he jumped in the shower and I would put his clothes in front of the bathroom door, shut the bedroom door.  After a couple weeks of me doing this, he finally caught on.  He now puts his clothes IN the bathroom, on the counter the night before and when he gets up in the morning he leaves the room and shuts the door, so now I never (well if I do, it's not because of him) wake up.  The only thing is he has a "Big Ben" alarm clock (ya know those odl school ones that ring REALLY loud, ya that one) and I want to throw it against the wall and break it sometimes.  I don't always hear it (because he usually gets up before it goes off) but when I do, oh boy.
  • (laughing about the alarm clock!)

Thing is... he is 'considerate' where the lights are concerned and with getting dressed with just the closet light.  That in itself may or may not be a good thing! =)

We usually email often during the day, but this... hm.

I think it ticks him off that I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat, too, and nap quite well!  I've always needed my sleep.

  • Morning junk punch?  Haha...j/k...sort of.

I feel you.  When I was knocked up I LOOOOVED to sleep in, even on the weekdays b/c I finally had an excuse to not drag my butt out of bed super early.  DH would get up and make a ton of noise.  He also always brings up the clean laundry for me to fold in the morning and drops its as hard as he can on the floor.

Just tell DH to calm the hell down and just be respectful in the morning.  It probalby won't work, but one can dream right?

  • ahh... got my email... and it reads:

"I have decided, in my infinite wisdom, to be nice to people who are mean to me."

I responded back starting out with 'Oh holy one...'

(Funny-we are not a couple who really has fights, so it's very odd... very odd...)

  • I know how you feel. I am the same way with my sleep -- DO NOT DISTURB!!! Hopefully he's not too upset and realizes he wouldn't be so happy if the situation was reversed.

  • oh shucks!  Sorry you two are spatting over something so easily fixed.

D and I go round and round with this.  Two days a week he has to get up at 5:30 and the rest he can go in whenever.  I get up at 6:30.  We stupid him sets his alarm BLARING for 4:30.  He is one of those types that likes to hit snooze a thousand and one times over.  I can't stand that.  So for me, his alarm goes off for over an hour at ten minute intervals.  Drives me up.the.wall.  We both moved our clothes into other rooms and get dressed out of the bedroom since I almost killed him over this.

What makes me craziest is that he does wake up until 10 or so the other days so he gets lots and lots of sleep.  Yet, he complains if my alarm goes off more than once.  I tell ya, one day he's gonna get my alarm shoved straight up his a$$.

  • ARGH! Now he tells me he is just doing this to get my goat...

Ok, Mr. 'infinite wisdom' Crabby Pants-it's on!
