Recommendation for boss gift
My DH wants to get his boss a gift. Not his boss he works with, but a guy who is the head honcho of everything. It is partly a Christmas gift but also to thank the guy for a recommendation for his MBA application.
So there is a fine line.. he wanted to wait a little while so it wouldn't look like he was trying to kiss up to him or anything (they were also doing promotions at his workplace), but he wants to thank him.
Any ideas? The guy is on a diet, so no 'box of truffles" kind of thing. I was thinking a bottle of wine but I have NO clue!
Re: Recommendation for boss gift
If he travels at all for work, you could get him a nice new briefcase or something travel related (passport holder, etc).
A gift certificate to a restaurant is also not a bad idea.
I'd do a gift certificate to a nice restaurant. You could also do a business card holder/pen set- I know Things Remembered engraves them.
Just a word of caution regarding giving alcohol as gifts. I rarely give wine as gifts unless I know that the person drinks- simply because I've learned from working in the field that I do that you never know if someone is in recovery from a substance abuse problem- that simple bottle of wine could set them back to drinking. For some people the temptation is too much. I know some of my patients have said that people give them wine not thinking and it's really difficult on them. :::steps off the soapbox:::
Yeah that's what I was saying too Kim. We only give the beer or wine as gifts if we know what they drink. Other people we did brueggars gift cards and stuff like that.
I know that I personally don't like dry wine so when someone gives it to me I often bring it to a party for others to drink.
