MIL wants a wishlist from us by the end of this week. So I need suggestions for fail-proof, foolproof things I can tell her that is easily accessible (i.e. no online shopping).
I'm imaginging she's thinking of joint household gifts, but we're totally out of room in our kitchen for anything, and we're good on bedding, etc. I do want new curtains/throw pillows/rug for the living room but I'm so picky I could never have someone pick this out for me.
Ideas?? Please?

Re: Foolproof gifts
Well, a gift card but that's not fun to wrap.
You could tell her pillows/curtains/etc. and hope they're easily returnable.
Or pick out specific kitchen devices (immersion blender--I want one of those!, salad spinner, tea kettle, potato ricer, chopping block) that no matter which one she got it would work. This would also work with specific housewares (I want a folding card table, for example)
Specific book titles.
Specific magazine titles (lots of these are on great sale now, too)
Specific kind of perfume (I am asking for this from Santa)
Specific DVD titles.

I asked for place settings of our china that I didn't get off our registry. Is there anything left on yours that you want?
What about lingerie and sex toys? That would be a nice gift that you would both use!
really nice bath towels? or maybe a gc to your favorite restaurant
I don't think she'll do GCs. She's more of a boxed gift person. It gives her joy to watch us open presents.
Nice towels could work. Some of ours are (this is gross) mildewy, and I can't get the odor out! Also, we could use a new tall garbage can and a waffle maker (though I don't know where I"ll put it) Or a coat rack.
keb, can you just see this? "Hey MIL, we could really use some new toys if you know what I mean. Talk to Flo at the adult store -- we have a wishlist there already."

Ugh I have this problem too... my ILs prefer we open 25 small gifts rather than 1 big one, refuse to give us gift cards, dont shop online, and they bargain hunt (i.e. if I said I wanted a Le Creuset 4 qt dutch oven, I would most likely get walmart's version of a dutch oven so they could spend the same amount of money but buy 20 more gifts). Its really annoying. I get that they are trying but I would much rather get 1 thing I want than 20 things I dont just so I have more to open.
This year, I asked for several cookbooks by title that I know are easily found at B&N. I asked for a few kitchen gadgets that I know can be bought at Target/BB&B. Some new basic kitchen towels (we forgot to register for them and I dont really care what they are).
Do you need any electronics? We asked for a wireless surround sound system because they like to do a big joint present. I dont really want one but I'm sacrificing for DH since he does and they are his parents.
Any movies or books on your list? Tickets to something?

Do you have a price limit?
How about the new TV you want? Or, GC to the store that sells them? Maybe some accessories for said TV (receiver, speakers, etc).
A new vaccum?
A puppy?
Booze?
Matching snuggies?
Perhaps, if you have no more room in your kitchen, how about an extended kitchen cart thingy?
New lamps?
A Wine chiller/fridge type thing?

LOL. Ditto most of the other PPs already on specific CD Titles, specific book titles, specific movies etc...
Also for moldy-smelling towels. Add a big scoopful of Oxi-Clean powder to the wash. Usually works to get the smell out.?
