ugh. home sick

I called in sick this morning since I woke up with a sore throat, sore ear and stuffy nose. I went to on call and I have a minor ear infection and a cold.

She prescribed ear drops and told me to take sudafed and mucinex as well as tylenol and zinc lozenges.

I bought the sudafed but mucinex is $15!! Anyone have any experience with it? is it worth the price or is my $9 box of Sudafed (with 18 day time pills and 12 night time pills) enough? I'm not super congested, but a little bit and so far the 1 pill I have taken of the sudafed has already started to help.

I have to go back to the drugstore later to get my drops since they were not in stock at the time I got there, so it wouldn't be a big deal to get the mucinex then, I just wonder how different it is than the sudafed (she specifically said "sudafed AND mucinex" not OR)

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: ugh. home sick

  • I think most pharmacys have their brand of mucinex. ive nver used it for the same reason, i'm not paying $15 for mucinex. mm nope.

  • I don't tend to notice a big difference taking cold medicines, but I really think Mucinex helped a lot. And the pills last for 12 hours, so you only need 2/day to keep you going, so its a bit pricey, but not too bad. Hope you feel better!!

  • Im sure the generic brand is just as good.

    Hope you feel better soon!!
