DIY Gifts?

Is anyone doing any DIY gifts? DH and I are doing dry rubs for some people... still looking for a few other ideas... please share yours if you're doing any! Smile

I'm knitting almost everyone's gifts this year--much more personal and inexpensive. I posted pics of DH's stocking earlier. In-law boys are getting nice hats, MIL is getting long gloves, SIL is getting a big, fluffy scarf. The requests on my side were a little more intense: my sister wants a long duster sweater (which I did manage to finish) and mom wants a really intricate lacy shawl (which I am more than halfway done with). Then I just have one more stocking for myself to match DH's!

I saw the stocking and couldn't post because my computer is being difficult today. Way to go on all your knitting jobs... that's one crafty skill I definitely need to learn one of these days!

It's definitely a good skill to have--not only for Christmas gifts on a budget, but I find it to be a really relaxing escape when life is getting too crazy.

It's not really a gift, but DH always makes roasted nuts for Christmas. They take a long time for him to make (because he makes so many batches) and they're not cheap (since nuts are so expensive), but everyone goes crazy for them.

I think if I do any DIY gifts this year it will only be 1 besides food. People just don't appreciate them. In the past though I've made:

- Crochet accessories bag for MIL (stands up by itself, has slots in the front for needles, and pockets on the sides for misc stuff.)

- Soccer ball pillow with rebel flags instead of the black parts for SIL

- Purse and matching DS case for sister

- Tote bags for coworkers

- Patriots pillowcase for DH

For my extended family (aunts and uncles) I'm making ornaments. I bought glass ornaments from Michael's and I'm going to decoupage them with various Christmas papers/tissues. I plan on doing this the week before Christmas .. I have about 15 to make... wish me luck!

I am doing cookies/goodies for some people and the others are getting the gift in a jar. The $ store has great jars that are snowmen ect, then getting some of the tins from there for the other baked goodies!

I crochet and have been working on a blanket for hubby for about 2 years off and on (normally more focused but it gets put on hold whenever anything else more pressing comes up). Figured I should probably finish that once and for all. I have a few days worth of work on it but it got back burnered when I made one for an adult cousin getting married and then for wedding planning. Other than that, people this year mostly wanted gift cards which aren't hard to do so I'm 99% done.
