Woke up with a killer sore throat today. Hoping it's just a cold...can't be flu, I've had BOTH vax! Could be strep...my coworker had it late last week. UGH. Will see OB today at 9 a.m. and hopefully my PCP later today to make sure it's not strep. I have to take the day off work, which I am not happy with since I am scrimping to save every hour of leave for maternity leave.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Appt. today at 9 a.m. Will have an u/s and talk about scheduling weekly NSTs since I am now on insulin.
(4) Have you been sick at all during this pregnancy? If so, what did you have an how long did it last? What did you do to treat it?
Had poison ivy in July...got an injection as well as cream and OTC antihistamines for it.
October I had major allergies that affected my sinuses...took Zyrtec and used my neti pot twice a day. Had to take Sudafed for a few days when it was really horrible and I couldn't breathe at all.
Today I have a weird sore throat. So far, just rinsing sinuses and gargling salt water to soothe it.

For work, I have two pairs of heels that I am still wearing, on occasion (not daily) and they are both 2 inch kitten heels. Usually though I am wearing Liz Claiborne Stacy shoes. Around the house it's been fuzzy slippers and on the weekends, slip-on Sketcher sneakers or my UGGs.

We have our two pugs and a cat as well as my mom's two chihuahuas. For the pugs, we've been sure to introduce them to all sorts of babies and kids. Luckily they are very kid-friendly. The chis...well they're old and crotchity so the plan is to just keep them away from the baby. And the cat...our main goal is to keep her out of the baby's room and things. Right now she thinks the changing pad is her new lounge area. We're installing a 4 ft. high baby gate (that has a door that locks but allows us to pass through it when needed) in the hallway just before the bedrooms so that the cat and the dogs cannot get into our room or the baby's room. We want them to be pet-free, especially the baby's room.
(8) Nursery inspiration....what are/did you do? Colors, themes, etc.? For those of you doing "shared space" baby rooms...what room is baby sharing and how are you making it work?
The first two colors at the top (white and toasted almond) are the trim and wall colors of the room. We don't plan to paint since we're renting and the space is shared with J's study (or the place he spends nearly 8 hours a day studying as a full-time nursing student) and we like it the way it is.
We have ice blue curtains up already, which led to my decision to incorporate the blue into our little girl's nursery. The pink chair is a swivel/rocker/recliner that we got for $50 and is a dusty rose color. And the apple green we are pulling in to balance the pink and blue we have going on in the room. I am calling this sort a of Shabby Chic meets Woodland Animal themed nursery. The cube shelving we already had, so we're repurposing it for storage (using lined storage baskets that I made new liners for that coordinate with the lampshade that I also DIY'd) and will add a changing pad to the top along with storage bins that have our cloth diapers and supplies in them.
The bird mobile is almost done...I have sewn and stuffed all of the little birdies and just need to figure out how to balance the branches I've attached them to so that they look like a mobile. The pillow with the dingle-ball trim I found at Target as part of their Simply Shabby line. And the wall decals are made of fabric and sold on Etsy. I really think that those decals will transform the space into one that is truly for a little child. We're still awaiting the arrival of our crib and area rug, but as soon as all of this is in place I will post pictures of the actual room....hopefully by the New Year.

40 weeks today!

Caution - Maybe TMI. I had my first internal yesterday. I'm nearly 3cm dilated, but only 20% effaced. My midwife did a stretch and sweep, I'm slowly losing my mp.
I'm very excited/anxious about labour. Our phone rings off the hook with people calling to see if we've had the baby yet... I'm not going to lie I find it extremely irritating. But I grin and bear it because we're so lucky to have so many people who already love this little person!
We've had a crazy couple of weeks. The most stressful even was Russ getting in a car accident last week, luckily he (and everyone else in the pile up) was ok. His truck didn't fair so well

I had a few colds during this pregnancy. I discovered the magical neti pot! It works wonders. During one of the colds I pulled a stomach muscle (while coughing and rolling over in bed at the same time). The pharmacist recommended Buckley's to stop the coughing so that my stomach would stop hurting.

I never really wear high heals... But it's winter time here now and I got the cutest new boots from North Face. I'm in love - they're so warm and have excellent treads.

I'm not sure if we're going to pay for a professional photographer for new born photos. I'm going to see how our maternity shots turn out first.

We have a dog and a cat. We have my brother lined up to ensure Jackson gets a walk every day after the baby is born. Jackson will be fine with the baby, I'm mostly worried about ensuring he gets enough attention afterwards. He's an inside dog who is allowed in every room of our house, so we haven't limited his access to the nursery. For the past couple months we've been allowing him to sleep out of his kennel. I'm looking forward to having his company when I'm up breast feeding in the night.
Our cat thinks that the glider and changing pad are her new beds, so I've been trying to keep the door closed. Dash is pretty self sufficient, so I haven't put alot of thought into her integration with the baby.

Our nursery is yellow (pics or furiture etc on facebook). I'm waiting to decorate until we know if the bebe is a boy our girl.

Russ' mom is hosting Christmas dinner for both of our families. We're having Christmas morning at our house. Then Russ and I are going to my parents for New Years. My family has an annual fondu and curling tournament on the lake so I'm SO excited about that.
Mostly I'm thinking that I'll still be adjusting to life with a baby so I've taken on no responsibility for anything.

1. Gosh they are almost a month old. Time flies when you're having fun! and Haley is almost 23 months!
2. No news..this is the first week we havent had a doc appt, so its kinda lonely! ha. We go next week and then again in Jan for their 2 month and Haley for her 2 year!

Yes, we have 2 mini-doxies. I didn't prepare them at all. Vance's parents brought home a blanket with Brooke's scent, but they said that our dogs weren't very curious. They are VERY good with her though.. love to kiss her hands and feet and she is constantly trying to touch them. In fact, Buddy came to kiss her feet the other day while I was changing her and she kicked him in the face accidentally. Poor guy. I'm sure they will be good friends when she starts table food..

Yes, we have 2 little doggies. We were really bad about preparing them for her, but they had always done so well when our friends kids came over and played. They LOVE Jaylee and Jaylee loves them. When she's super fussy, just the sight of them can calm her down.

Our nursery "theme" is hello kitty. We painted walls a sage green with light pink trim. Lots of Lavender and pink accents around the room. We have Hello Kitty crib set, a hk lamp and lots of other garden accents. It started off as a garden/buttefly theme so when we found the hello kitty garden crib set it went from there.

Dec 21. Nothing special, just a regular appointment. No further u/s planned, but at my last appointment my doctor said I'm measuring a little small (my uterus). But she's not concerned, esp since baby was measuring fine at my last u/s at 28 weeks.

Definitely, yes. Our photographer is Brooke Ashley Photography. She's doing our maternity shoot as well.

We have a dog. We keep saying we need to play some baby cries for her and maybe get a doll, but we haven't yet. The doctor also said we could bring a blanket home from the hospital before we come home so she can smell the baby. But I really think she'll be okay and I think she'll love the baby once baby can play with her. She's never met a person she doesn't like. We're trying to give her less attention, but it's hard and she's pretty needy. Also, we don't allow her in the baby's room and plan to put up a gate.

No theme, really. But everything is pretty much pink! It's going to be kind of a hodge podge.

I swear, the swelling in my feet doesn't even go down anymore. I just have fat sausage feet all day and all night.

Just had one yesterday with the maternity nurses at the hospital (they just took my/my family's/Ben's medical history, gave me a bunch of info and a tour of the ward). And the BIG ultrasound next Monday - I'm SO FREAKING EXCITED!

If I get my fancypants new camera before they're born, we might do our own mini-shoot at home.
(7) Do you have pets? If so, how will/did you prepare them for baby? We're not doing anything special. We have friends with both infants and toddlers, and our pets have been exposed to both of those. Korben in particular is going to love having babies in the house - he LOOOOOOVES children! It's pretty funny - when a friend brings over her 6 month old girl, he runs to the baby's side and doesn't want to leave her. He just adores little children, it's so cute!

Light blue and soft yellow for sure. Possibly splashes of red, or maybe pink if we have girls but I'm not sold on that (I REALLY don't want a poofy pink nursery). They'll be sharing a room together, but not with us or anything.

Not sure if this a milestone, but I'm feeling like I'm getting menstrual cramps, complete with the back pain and all. (TMI warning: the bleeding from birth is finally slowing down, but I wonder if I this means I'll be getting a period soon?)

There was some off/on feelings of general illness in the beginning, but other than that, mainly I was just really tired for most of it. I also had more diarrhea than anything else during the pregnancy.

I also had a great pair of Sketchers slip-ons - HOWEVER, the hospital lost them sometime between registration and check out. Of course I didn't realize we didn't have them until I went to leave the hospital! I had to walk out in my flip flops (that I brought for the shower) and socks.
Anyway, I have a pr of Propet Mary Jane's that I've been wearing for over a year since I rolled my ankle pretty badly the summer of 2008.

(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? doing good except my stomach muscles are starting to stretch or something and I keep getting like muscle spasms or and the last few days I feel like I am dehydrating even though I am gulping water
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? OB appt 12/15. I got the results back from my NT scan and everything was great and also my progesterone was good too so no more of that stuff

It will share a room with us since we are maxed out on space in our current place. We hope to buy a new bedroom set with our tax return that will take up less room and we will get rid of the tanning bed that occupies a corner and put the crib there. We also hope to do more rearranging in the closet to make room for some of its stuff. It is going to be crowded and probably look cluttered since babies come with so much stuff, but hopefully we will be able to start building our house in the next year.

still adjusting to waking up in the middle of the night to feed her... but she is sleeping anywhere from 3.5-5 hours during the night now. I would love for her to be STTN (i.e. 5-6 hours) by 6-8 weeks of age

my next appt will be my 6 wk post partum check but I called too late and she books up so fast that I won't be seeing her until I am 10 weeks PP. A's next appt is her 2 month visit where she'll get her first vax

I had some mild m/s that lasted from 8-12 wks. Otherwise, I didn't really get sick during my PG. constantly eating, saltine crackers, and sour candy all helped with my m/s

I wore heels early on in the PG but once I was farther along I switched to my danskos at work and ballet flats when going out

we have 1 dog and 2 cats... we had the nursery set up by 36 wks so they could all get used to the new furnishings in the nursery. I caught one of the cats in the crib twice but after scolding him and kicking him out those two times, he hasn't been back there since.
otherwise, when we brought A home, we let the cats sniff a blanket w/her smell on it and they kept their distance for the first few days - they were really scared of her. they aren't so scared anymore but they are cautious and keep their distance so I'm not too worried about them. with the dog, we just let her meet A right away and she was super curious and excited...only problem we had w/her was that she wanted to lick her at first but since telling her that's a no no, she has been good. we weren't really worried about how the dog would be around her, we knew she would be good. we were more concerned about the cats but thankfully things have worked out well
it's really cute, actually. the dog will come get us when the baby starts crying like "hey! you need to go get her!" ....and I've seen her "go check on" the baby before going to bed... she'll go in our room, walk back out and into the nursery and stand in front of the crib for a second, then go back into our room to her dog bed

believe it or not, MH is already talking about TTC again in 6 months!!
I told him I wasn't so sure about that just yet...but we'll see how I feel in 6 months. I think something more like 1-2 years would be better.

MH has to work 7 days straight from Dec 21-27 so we will be spending Christmas here by ourselves (our families are in CA and TN). if I am feeling up to it, I'll cook something nice, otherwise it will sadly kind of feel like just any other day. we'll probably try to get some cute pics of the baby's first Christmas but since she can't open presents or anything yet it won't be that exciting. we do plan to go visit A's great grandma in TN for New Year's so there will be some family time then...
