Another gift question

I love my aunt and uncle.. my aunt and I are super super close because my parents passed away a few years ago and she was by my side the whole time and we went through everything together.  She has been there for me for everything, from personal problems to driving 7 hours round trip in one day so as not to miss DD's 2nd bday.

Anyway.. not to ramble.. for Christmas she is going to be home (in VT) with her kids and her daughter's soon to be MIL.  They have all decided to just exchange books only as gifts (since they are on a budget/broke/flying cross country for the holidays).

My aunt made me promise not to give her anything, and I said ok.. but she sent a huge box of gifts for us and the kids, and she is always super generous.

What should I do?  I have had an $80 gift idea I have wanted to give her for ages..  it's not like she can really be "mad" if I send it, right?  She is like a mother to me, and just because her kids are broke and don't even give her a mother's day card, doesn't mean I can't give her something?
