Work vent (sorry, needs to be done)

I am resisting the urge to complain to my supervisors because I know the only response will be "mistakes are made" but I'm getting so frigging sick of the mistakes that could be easily avoided if people just took the time to do their f'ing job right. Instead, they quickly glance at a case, see one indicator that it belongs in my purview, and don't bother to look at the rest of the case. If they did, they'd see that it doesn't belong to me, and they should be the one to do their dang jobs and work the cases correctly instead of making me waste working it for them. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!  I feel like Charlie Brown. I just want to tilt my head back and scream in frustration!

Re: Work vent (sorry, needs to be done)

  • Not sure how this would go over, but can you do any work that relates to your job and then give it back to be completed by the person who really needs to be doing it?

  • Well, when the work doesn't fall under my purview (which means outside of the scope of work the legislature mandated my position work on), there is nothing for me to do that is actually "my job". But in the past I tried returning the cases and having them route them correctly, but they instead just told me how to do it myself.  I don't want to stand there like a b!tch and say "it's not my job" but technically, I'm not authorized to do the other work (even though I'm capable). But I don't want to be one of those government workers people complain about that always pass the buck, so I kind of have taken on the "if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself" attitude. I just wish others would do it right, too.

My day yesterday ended with me discovering a huge screwup by the same people I complained about before.  But now I feel sorry for our customer service liason who has to be the one to tell the "customer" about it.
